Davis Safety Precautions
- Hand sanitizer will be readily available throughout the building.
- Water fountains will be turned off. Water-bottle filling stations have been added to our school.
- Social distancing stickers will be placed on the ground outside of waiting areas such as restrooms, lines for the cafeteria, etc.
- Cafeteria lines will use lunch ID's as we will be using scanners and barcodes to keep students from touching surfaces.
- The cafeteria will be marked with seats where students will be allowed to sit, skipping seats next to and across from one another to allow for social distancing.
- Excess furniture will be removed from classrooms to allow desks to be further spaced out.
- Teachers and students will be wearing masks/face shields during the day.
- Teachers are being equipped with bottles of cleaner to wipe down desks in between each class.
- Students will not congregate in the cafeteria or gym in the morning. They will report directly to their first period classes. Grab and Go breakfast will be available.
- Dismissal at the end of the day will go in waves to minimize hallway congestion.

Chromebook Information
In Wylie ISD, all secondary students have had access to Chromebooks in various content classes since 2015. Starting in 2017, our 5th-8th graders were issued a Chromebook to use throughout the entire school day, and last year our high school students were issued Chromebooks to be used both at school and at home. We are excited to announce that, for the 2020-2021 school year, we will continue to implement a one-to-one Chromebook program at our secondary campuses, with one major difference. The students in grades 5-8 will also be allowed to take the Chromebooks home.
Students will be issued a Dell Chromebook along with a power adapter, cord, and protective case (protective cases are on order and should arrive by the end of August). Wylie ISD will require that Chromebook insurance be purchased prior to deployment of the Chromebook to the student. For students in grades 5-8, the annual fee will be $30 per device. The insurance package covers any type of device malfunction, including:
· Hardware
· Accidental damage (drops/spills)
· Cracked screen
· Liquid submersion
· Power surge (lightning)
· Theft with a police report
· Vandalism
If there are issues at home with a Chromebook, please enter a help desk ticket at help@wylieisd.net.

To go online to pay your Davis student's Chromebook insurance, please click here. In addition, please complete the online registration form for Chromebook usage.
If you are still needing to obtain a Chromebook for your child, please stop by the school at your convenience.

Nurse's Notes
Hello! My name is Shelly Nickell, and I am the nurse at Davis. I wanted to let you know a few things about our school clinic this year.
1. Immunization requirements are still in effect.
2. We will continue to accept medications to be administered in school. Please complete the medication administration form and bring it with the medication to the clinic for storage. Oral medications taken daily must have a current prescription on the bottle.
3. For epi-pens and inhalers, meds must be in properly labeled package and expiration date must be current. Please have forms completed for these along with doctor’s signature. If your child will be carrying his/her inhaler or epi-pen, please have your physician note this on the form.
4. Our campus will take extra precautions this year when it comes to clinic visits. All students who are needing a medication or routine daily care, or have a minor injury, will be attended to in the front office area. Sick students will be isolated in the clinic area until picked up to go home. We are asking that if you are called to pick up your student that you arrive here within thirty minutes, but no longer than an hour.
5. I am going to serve as your point of contact for COVID related issues including reporting illnesses and possible exposures. When a student is ill at school, the teacher will notify the nurse for the need for a clinic visit. The students who are sick will be seen by the nurse in the “sick area”. When a student has potential COVID symptoms, or other illness, they will be kept isolated as they wait to be picked up. If your student is experiencing symptoms at home, please complete the health survey or notify me and keep your child at home. I will contact you for more information to work out a return-to-school-activities date.
Please remember that all information is kept confidential. We look at each case on an individual basis to decide on return dates, etc. Children at home being quarantined for an exposure will be allowed to remote learn from home. Also, if you have your child tested at all, please keep them home until you receive the results.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Student Nutrition Lunch Pick-Up Lines
Wylie ISD has selected four campuses to be the curbside meal pick-up locations for remote learners. The meal pick-up time will be from 12:00-1:00 daily. Any student or parent may come to the school and pick up lunch from any of the designated campuses. The nutrition department will charge the student accordingly. Please see remote learning meal service updates for detailed guidelines and a FAQ page.

Frequently Asked Questions
On-Campus Learning Q&A
Will I be able to walk in the building with my child on the first day of school?
Unfortunately, you will be unable to do this. We are restricting non-school employees from entering the building.
What if we didn’t make it to pick up the Chromebook?
On-campus students who did not pick up a Chromebook will be given a Chromebook on either the first or second day of school.
What will arrival and dismissal look like?
Arrival: The front doors will open at 7:45. Students will report to their first period class. Breakfast will be grab and go. School starts at 8:15.
Dismissal: Details are being worked out, but dismissal is at 3:30 daily. All students will be encouraged to socially distance while waiting for their ride to arrive. The map for car riders has been provided below.
What are you going to be doing during the day to prevent the spread of Covid?
On-campus classes will be as small as possible to provide space for social distancing. No lockers will be assigned. Students will be allowed to have their backpacks in class. There will be staggered dismissal times from each period, and the traffic in hallways will be only one way. Students will be socially distanced during lunch times. Microwaves will not be provided this year.
Will we have to wear a face mask at all times?
Students will be required to wear masks at all times except for when they eat lunch, are outside for recess, or in gym.
Will I be able to come up to school to eat lunch with my child?
Unfortunately, you will be unable to do this. We are restricting non-school employees from entering the building.
What if I need to pick my student up during the school day?
We are working out the specifics on this; but, the goal for now is for parents to still buzz-in. At that time, an office staff member will check the student out and bring him/her to the door.
Will there be on-campus tutorials?
Yes, on-campus tutorials will still occur.
Will we have 5th Grade Adventure Camp this year?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to take our 5th graders to Adventure Camp in October. Field Trips have been put on hold for the district.
Remote Learning Q&A
Will remote learning be similar to the online learning in the spring?
It will not look like online learning in the spring. Remote students will follow the same bell schedule as those at school. That means that they need to be up, ready, and logged in for their first period class at 8:15. They will follow the same schedule as students at school follow the rest of the day. The remote teacher, teaching from their classroom on campus, will take attendance each period.
Remote students will be required to master all state-required learning objectives. Academic expectations will be the same for on-campus and remote learners.
Have Pre-AP and Advanced courses been developed for remote learning?
Yes, all Pre-AP and Advanced courses will be provided remotely.
Will there be remote tutorials?
Yes, tutorials will be an option for remote learners.
Will my child still be able to participate in fine arts classes remotely?
Yes, we will have all of the fine arts classes for students remotely.
Will we have 5th Grade Adventure Camp this year?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to take our 5th graders to Adventure Camp in October. Field Trips have been put on hold for the district.
