September 2nd, 2022- Community Newsletter
Dear Monomoy Middle School Families,
We are looking forward to a great school year! Plan on our weekly correspondence through this Community Newsletter. Its purpose is to offer dinner table topics for you to converse with your preteen, and to provide time sensitive information about the week ahead.
The last few days have been focused on preparing our school and aligning our practices within our staff to be sure that each child has a positive experience throughout their middle school. We all felt the same way Thursday afternoon, eager to bring on the kids!
Earlier this week we hosted 130 of our 151 5th grade/new to Monomoy families as we offered a tour of the building, passed out schedules, and shared community resources. It was a wonderful event and a good practice run.
Finally, we seek to be more purposeful in getting families into our building this year. We want you! If you are interested in volunteering, or participating on the school council, please reach out to me at aoshea@monomoy.edu Our motto this year is Better Together, let's live it!
Have a safe Labor Day!
Adam O'Shea
Principal
Announcements and Reminders
First Day of School: Students will be invited into the school building at 8:35 am on Tuesday morning. Staff will be located throughout the interior and exterior of the building. Students will be ushered by grade level to the following locations. Grade 5 students will report to the large gym, grade 6 students will report to the lunch room, and grade 7 students will report to the auditorium. Homeroom teachers will pick students up from these locations.
School Supplies: Relax, we have you covered. Monomoy Middle is providing students with the pens, pencils, notebooks, journals and other essentials.
PickUp Patrol: PickUp Patrol is our primary communication for end of day changes to student plans. If your child's default plan for the end of the day is different from either taking the bus, or parent/guardian pick-up then please send a note. For example, if your child is going to Brooks library daily, then one note is sufficient for the entire school year.
Calendar of Events: View the updated calendar of events to help organize your September!
