World Cancer day is lead by International Cancer Control (UICC) which was founded in 1933. It takes place around the world and aims to raise awareness.


1 in every 235 children will be diagnosed with cancer before they are 20.

30% of cancer is because of smoking.

There are over 100 types of cancer.

Cancer is the second most common death in the U.S. (1 in every 4 deaths)

The risk for getting cancer increases with age.

Cancer Council Tasmania will be marking World Cancer Day by holding a morning tea and information session on the 4th February at the Cancer Support Centre in Launceston.
