Message from the Superintendent
This season of gratitude is a time to reflect on the many incredible things I am thankful for in our school district. I am continuously impressed with our hard working staff throughout all of our schools and at the district office, and for our school board members who are committed to excellence and equity. The LOSD team is comprised of dedicated professionals who care deeply about the students we serve.
On Monday and Tuesday of next week, all of our licensed and classified teaching staff will come together for LOSD's annual PD November event. These two days of powerful professional development help us continuously improve our practices. I am pleased we have this shared learning experience.
Additionally, I am grateful for our caring, involved families and community, who support the educational endeavors in our district. Your spirit of giving is remarkable and helps make Lake Oswego a truly special place to live and work. On behalf of everyone in LOSD, I wish you and your families a wonderful holiday.

Weather Event Communications
As we edge closer to winter, please be sure to review the LOSD emergency communications page of our district website for information, including when and how you will be notified if we have a school closure or delay.
Standard Response Protocol: Say Hello!
In the event of weather-related and emergency incidents, LOSD uses a text-to-voice system that allows us to disseminate information to you as quickly as possible through multiple communication channels. Those channels include phone, text, email, and the LOSD app. The system also translates the message into your preferred language, as noted on your student's verification form.
Please note: the phone messages are voice activated. In other words, the system requires you to speak first to prompt the voice message. For example, say "hello" when answering your phone.

Spanish Immersion Applications Now Open
LOSD's Spanish Immersion program applications are now open online at losdschools.org/programs. For Spanish Immersion, Lake Oswego School District intakes students who are eligible for kindergarten in the 2020-2021 school year.
Submitting an application is your commitment to the Spanish Immersion program; the program’s school location may change next year as a result of the LOSD elementary school re-boundary study currently in progress.
Spanish Immersion applications received between Nov. 1, 2019, and no later than Feb. 21, 2020, at 3:30 p.m., will be entered into a lottery. LOSD will hold its lottery drawing on Feb. 26, and applicants will be notified of their Spanish Immersion placement by Friday, Feb. 28.
Please note: In addition to submitting your student’s Spanish Immersion application, you must register your incoming kindergartener online either through losdschools.org and/or your school website. Registration for kindergarteners, and all NEW incoming students, opens Jan. 22, 2020.
