Hello MHS Bulldog Families!

We hope you have had a restful and relaxing Summer. The Magnolia High staff has been working hard to ensure we are ready to provide the very best support for our students in the 2021-2022 school year. We are so excited to welcome the students back to the building to kick off what promises to be a great school year.

The purpose of this newsletter is to provide you with the information you may need to begin the year on the right foot. Please feel free to reach out to your counselor or administrator should you have any questions.

Remember, here at Magnolia HS we Love, Serve, and Care for all students! And as always GO DOGS!!

Dress Code Expectations for the 2021-2022 School Year

Please be certain to review the attached dress code and grooming expectations for the upcoming school year. If you have any questions, please reach out to your grade level AP.

Student (Car Rider) Drop Off and Pick Up

Parents should plan to drop off their students and pick them up at the front of the building. Below is an aerial view of the MHS building. Areas marked in red and yellow denote areas where students cannot be dropped off and/or picked up. Please note that while the area between the stadium and the bus lot is not off limits, Deputy Jones has said he will work to keep the flow of traffic moving and it may result in a longer wait for those who do not adhere to the route denoted (in blue) below.

Additionally, please make certain to watch for (and obey) those who are directing traffic. Failure to do so is a ticketable offense.

Schedule Pick Up

All students will pick up a new copy of their schedule on Wednesday morning. These schedules will be printed on green paper. Students who do not have a green paper schedule will not be admitted into the classroom. Schedules will be picked up by students in the following areas (based on their last name):

A - I: Cafeteria

J - R: Big Gym

S - Z: Small Gym

Schedule Changes

High school students will be allowed to make schedule changes prior to the first day of school during the pre-registration process subject to course availability.

The following guidelines will apply for class changes after school has begun:

  • Students requesting to move from Advanced, AP or IB to regular level classes before the end of the semester may do so by following campus Advanced Academic exit procedures. However, the grade transferred from the Advanced, AP or IB class will be weighted on a regular 5.0 scale.

  • If a student drops an Advanced, AP or IB class at the end of the semester, the transcript will reflect IB/Advanced for the first semester, and regular for the second semester.

  • Students may not transfer from a regular class to an Advanced, AP or IB class after the first two weeks of that class. However, requests at mid-term will be evaluated upon the recommendation of teachers involved.

  • Students requesting to drop athletics, ROTC, drill team, or band must wait until the end of the semester or transfer to a PE class.

All changes are subject to availability of space in the requested classes.

Attention: Food Delivery and Food Delivery Services

Any parent wanting to drop off food for their student may do so in the front office. Students are not allowed to leave the building to retrieve any delivery of any kind. Delivery from Uber Eats, Door Dash, or any other food delivery entity (ie pizza delivery) will not be permitted.

Student Parking Info

Student parking tags will be sold before school and during all lunches in 2512 (Senior AP Office). Please email hmatthews@magnoliaisd.org with any questions.
