The Viewpoint
Spirit week had all of us fired up! The students and staff truly enjoyed the energy that the week brought. We will carry this energy over to our learning as we head into the final weeks of our first marking period.
Pig Out With Your Parent
The Pig Out will take place on November 1, 2017. This is a great time to enjoy lunch with your child. Feel free to bring in lunch, buy lunch from our cafeteria, or just stop by for a few minutes. The menu for the day is below.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to those that were able to attend parent teacher conferences this past week. We will have another night open for you to meet with your child's teachers on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 3:30 - 7:30 pm. Also thank you to those parents that donated to the staff dinner!
Zombie Run
THANK YOU to all of our volunteers and to those folks that were able to donate to our Zombie Run. The day was a HUGE success and the students and staff had a very memorable experience. Our Oakview family continues to amaze me in their generosity and creativity!

Scholastic Book Fair
We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair and experience the excitement that reading provides to our students! The book fair will be open from Tuesday, October 17 through Wednesday, October 24 from 7:20 until 3:00 each day. It will also be open during Parent/Teacher conferences from 3:30 until 7:00.
If you would be interested in volunteering to help at the fair, please contact Media Specialist, Melissa Kempski at melissa.kempski@lok12.org.
Fitness maniacs
We had six teachers run the Detroit Free Press half marathon. These folks had many hours (and miles) of training. What wonderful role models for our students in a number of different facets!
Olweus kick off assembly
We had a rockin' house on Friday with the band AttaBoy filling the speakers. This band is a motivational group and spreads a message of positivity. Thank you to Mike Macey from MEEMIC for helping to support the cost of the band. We also had class banners representing Dragons Unite for our character education piece. The students did an amazing job with the whole morning!
