The Preschool Press

February 5, 2021

  • This week at ECDC we celebrated our wonderful Catholic school with dress-up days including Crayon Day and Pajama Day. We made thank you cards and cookies for our priests. We were even visited by Deacon Loeffler on the Feast of St. Blaise and received a special blessing on our throats. We learned that Bishop Blaise saved a boy from choking by praying over him and that is why we take part in this blessing. In catechesis, we learned about the cruets and how the priest prepares them for the Eucharistic celebration during Mass.
  • We look forward to welcoming back our Owl and Raccoon friends next week. A detailed COVID update can be found below.
  • Our Lenten service project begins in March and will benefit Catholic Charities. They are in need of diapers, formula, and canned goods. See the flyer below for details.

The Owl and Raccoon classes are scheduled to return to school next week. Here are some updates to share as we continue to work together to mitigate the risks of community spread and outbreaks.

  • We have created a sign-up procedure for teachers seeking vaccinations. With this information, we are continually communicating with the Tulsa Health Department and local officials to ensure that as soon as Phase II opens our teachers will be able to be scheduled as soon as possible.

  • Every classroom, hallway and common space will be anitized and thoroughly cleaned this weekend.

  • Our maintenance team coordinated with our HVAC service team to make modifications to our ventilation system to allow more fresh air flow in every classroom. Additionally, over the past week, new HVAC filters arrived and were installed throughout campus.

  • We have established a designated COVID-19 email address We encourage parents to use this account when communicating with the school about potential exposures, quarantine guidelines, etc. Beginning Friday, Feb. 12, parents will receive a standalone weekly email providing the latest numbers on campus and COVID-19 updates.

  • Additionally, we have adjusted our daily schedules to limit the number of interactions classes have with each other, reducing the risk of sending multiple classes into quarantine.

We have also created a COVID-19 Task Force. This team will complement our Medical Advisory Committee by continuously evaluating our protocols through the remainder of the year. The task force will focus on tactical and day-to-day operations to help mitigate on-campus exposure and spread, including data management. An assessment of current operations will be released by February 17, 2021.

In the days and months ahead, we will continue to monitor Tulsa County cases and follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health experts. Our campus has had tremendous success due to the collective cooperation of our community, and we are confident we can have a successful spring semester as well.
