Jacques-Pierre Brissot
A member of the Legislative Assembly and National Convention. He believed in the idea of constitutional monarchy. Brissot's followers, initially known simply as Brissotins, eventually became more generally known as Girondins. He unsuccessfully declared war on Austria and Prussia, Brissot was removed from the National Convention. He lost his life in the Reign of Terror in1793-1794.
