Newsletter Term 3 Week 2
Patumahoe School 3rd of August 2022
Principal's Desk
Kia ora parents, caregivers, and extended whanau
Alongside our daily cross country training I have started taking a group extra keen students for an advanced run around Patumahoe, looking to build our endurance up McMiken Hill and the new subdivision. If you live locally, get your children to run the cross country loop afterschool or on the weekend and time themselves. If you don't live locally then find a decent 1.5- 2.5km loop and get your kids to run it and record their time. Get them to improve that time each run they do.
Parent interviews
School will close at 12.30pm next Thursday. We kindly ask that you please make arrangements for your child to be picked up at this time. Bus children will remain at school supervised until 2.25pm. Parent interviews are booked online and an information sheet on how to do this will be coming home with children today.
Teacher Only Day
Next Friday the 12th August is a Teacher Only Day. So no kids at school this day sorry. Staff will be doing professional development linked to the new Aotearoa NZ histories curriculum which launches in 2023. I believe we have a local 'amazing race' in store so you may see teachers out and about in Patumahoe.
The BOT and I met last week to discuss a few things. The senior playground was a hot topic, and we are very excited to almost have a date set for the beginning of the new build. It will involve removal of the existing structures, followed by an extensive drainage install. It is still a few months away, however, so we just have to make the most of it on the dry days at this point in time.
Best of luck to our rugby teams this Friday and best of luck to the parents on jersey washing duties.
