Fall Into a Good Book! πππ
Autumn you glad we can borrow books again? Fall is here and now is the time to catch up on reading. Starting in the month of October, first and second grade students will have the opportunity to check out a library book. Students will be reminded of how to take care of their books before borrowing them. This teaches them responsibility and accountability. Students who return their books in good condition will continue to be able to borrow books now until the month of May. If students do not return books in good condition, unfortunately, a fine will be charged or they will not have the chance to borrow another book from the school library. Last year, most of the students were very responsible and returned their books and showed how responsible they truly were. I am so proud of our students for this.
Happy reading!

We are continuing to celebrate Hispanic Heritage this month. It ends on October 15th. However, we will continue to celebrate the many different Hispanic cultures throughout the year, as well as all others. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 through October 15 each year. These dates were chosen due to it being around the time that many Hispanic nations declared their independence. It recognizes the contributions made by Hispanics in the United States of America. Hispanics have ancestors from Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America, and areas of the Caribbean. It began in 1968 under President Lyndon Johnson as Hispanic Heritage Week and was extended by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to become Hispanic Heritage Month.
