AFJROTC
Thanks to a program funded by the USAF Chief of Staff, quite a few of Campo Verde’s AFJROTC cadets have recently had the opportunity to go on a training flight with local Civil Air Patrol (CAP) mission pilots. The “Flight Orientation” program exists to allow high school JROTC students to experience military flight operations from a “hands on” position. During the orientation flight, each cadet is given the opportunity to fly a CAP airplane. In the case of these pictures, that airplane is a Cessna 182R used by Arizona Wing Squadron 305 based at Falcon Field in Mesa. CAP is charged with all aviation related search and rescue in the continental USA and uses these aircraft in their operations. CAP also works closely with the Department of Homeland Defense as a “threat” that can be “intercepted” by military alert forces. These alert exercises enhance the reality for military pilots and helps them to maintain their alert force readiness.
This flying program should continue throughout the year, offering Campo’s cadets more opportunities to fly.

The competition is on April 27th at 9am at the Chandler Museum.

THE WINTER GUARD & PERCUSSION STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS CONCLUDE
The Campo Verde Junior Varsity Guard (CV Green), Varsity Guard (CV Copper), and Indoor Percussion Ensemble (CVIPE) concluded a highly competitive season after performing at the WGAZ Championships held at the Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Arizona. The groups performed under the direction of caption heads, Amanda Flores, Justin Galvez, and supporting staff.
The Championships began on Friday, March 29th, in which the Green guard competed against 29 high schools and scored an impressive 71.58 points making fifth place in the Scholastic Regional A class. Thereafter, on Saturday, March 30th, the Copper guard entered the arena with pride, confidence, and ready to perform their final act called “Revolution,” finishing in seventh place after scoring 75.375 points. Later that night, the CVIPE delivered their final electrifying performance “After the Fall,” scoring 82.225 points taking fourth place in its class.
Undoubtedly, the passion, commitment, dedication, and hard work of all the winter season members, including staff and parents, led to this successful season. Surely, the journey that the members have shared during the season has built long lasting friendships, strong character, and indispensable leadership. The members look ahead to the next season with pride.

CVHS - New Assistant Girl’s Golf Coach
Hello, Coyotes!
My name is Coach Pena and I am going to be assisting the Girl’s Golf team this Fall! I played college golf in Minnesota and made my way down to the Valley of the Sun to pursue my Master’s at ASU for Physical Education! Currently, I am helping out with the Physical Education department, and because I love everyone at Campo so much, I want to stick around and help out with golf! I plan to have fun technique and skill based practices, help players talk to college coaches and demonstrate how golf is one of the best lifelong sports there is. I can say as a college golfer that I experienced some amazing memories with my teammates, meeting other golfers and connecting with people within the business world. Women’s college golf is the most underused scholarships out there, so with a lot of hard work and dedication, I hope to get some of your girls into the next level. As mentioned previously that it is a great lifelong sport, it helped me when I got my Bachelor's degree in Business, because much of the business deals are done on the golf course! Anyways, I truly hope that we are able to grow this program for the girl’s team this next Fall and that we will get more and more girls into the state tournament!
Coach Pena

We will also be seeing two Broadway shows; Phantom of The Opera and Come From Away. Our group will also be participating in two vocal workshops, one with an actor from Broadway and the other with Paul Speiser from NYU. Concert Choir will also perform on the Intrepid aircraft carrier! Good luck Coyotes, and have lots of fun!

Library Info
The library currently has a display up that was inspired by the movement: #strongwomenread. Books on this display either have strong fictional female characters (such as Jo in Little Women, or Star in The Hate U Give) or have nonfiction books with real women throughout history that have done amazing things.
Reminder: Students should make sure to go to their settings once a week to update their Chromebook. If they need any help, they can come to the library.
