Principal's Message
I hope all of you enjoyed a restful break. My wife and I surprised our children with a trip to Disneyland and despite having some uncooperative weather, we had a great trip! We were lucky not to get caught up in the travel delays many folks experienced over the holidays.
We had a very busy first week back after the break, with both the Christmas Craft Day and the Christmas concert, but it was a great week. I'd like to thank our students, Mrs. DeLeeuw, and Mr. Stoyles for a great evening last Thursday! I'd also like to thank the many people who attended the concert, as it made for a special evening for our students!
Basketball is in full swing, with our Knights hosting the first home game of the season last night against Grand Trunk. The girls played hard right to the end but fell just behind GT in a 27-30 nail-biter finish. The boys played a great game, winning 46-20.
We have a few exciting events coming up! January 27th is Family Literacy Day, which is intended to raise awareness about the importance of reading as a family! We would like to invite any parents/guardians, K-9, who wish to attend, to come to NCS for an extended lunch from 11:30 - 12:05. We'd ask that parents bring a picnic lunch to share with their child(ren) and a blanket to sit on in the Gym, along with their child's favorite book! Children whose parents are unable to attend will be partnered with a friend and their parent, a teacher, or an older student.
The school will also be hosting two dances during the week of February 13th - 17th. The first, on February 14th, will be a Mother-Son dance. The second, on February 16th, will be a Father-Daughter dance. Both events will take place from 5:30 - 7:30, and are open to students JK - 9.
Our next School Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 31st at 3:30, and will be held in the Music Room. We'd love to see you there! As a reminder, there will be no school on February 9th and 10th, as teachers will be headed to Edmonton for Teacher's Convention!
Finally, our Hot Lunch program is always looking for volunteers. Please reach out to Miranda Morden if you'd like to help out!
