Weekly Family Update # 35
May 3, 2020
Hello Falcon Families,
Welcome to May! Thank you so much to all of the families who have completed the online continuing student registration process. I really appreciate it! Our Welcome Center staff has been going over each submitted packet and if everything is complete, sending an automated notification email to families. If you have not received this message, it is coming. Our staff is moving as quickly as possible through all of the packets.
We still have approximately 111 families who have still not completed this process. Lucky for you, the deadline to complete the Continuing Student Enrollment process has been extended to May 8th. Please make sure you follow the directions further below in this newsletter. Thanks!
This week is STAFF Appreciation Week. I am so lucky to have such an amazing Falcon Faculty who works everyday to make a school community where students feel safe to learn and grow. I really appreciate all of their work. I have seen so many great moments during our Distance Learning. From Pokémon Club meetings to Outdoor Math tasks using chalk, I really appreciate the work of our teachers to engage our students from home. Please take a moment this week to reach out and thank a teacher. This has been difficult transition for both students and adults and I really appreciate how our Falcon community has come together to make the best of a difficult situation. Thank You Teachers for all of your hard work and Thank You Parents for the support you are providing at home and Thank You Students for adapting so quickly to this new system and continuing to thrive in in your studies. I love our community. We are better together!
Please make sure you check out the amazingly awesome video below that PTSA put together to thank our amazing Falcon Faculty!!!!
Have a great week Falcons!
Thanks for all you do for our Oak Valley Community! Go Falcons!

Staff Appreciation Week Message and VIDEO from PTSA
OVMS Staff and Teachers,
Students, teachers and staff walked out OVMS doors on March 13th not knowing that they would not get the chance to finish off the school year and for some, walk the halls of middle school for the last time. Then distance learning happened and parents became instant teachers and suddenly have a deep appreciation for what our teachers and staff deal with on a daily basis. It breaks our hearts that we won't get to celebrate Staff Appreciation Week like we usually do. This does stink! BUT, Falcon Families have rallied and know that now more than ever our OVMS Staff and Teachers deserve to be appreciated and celebrated...even if from a distance! We'd like to share with you all our deepest appreciation for all you do! And special thanks to Theresa Manalang for sharing her talents and putting together this Virtual Staff Appreciation Week Video!
Stay well and healthy!
PTSA, Staff Appreciation Week Chairperson

Continuing Student Online Registration - Deadline Extended!
The online Continuing Student Registration window has been extended to May 8th at 11:59pm!
We must receive a completed digital packet for all returning students. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2020-2021 school year. This annual digital process will allow a family to complete one single “family” packet instead of completing one packet per student.
Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. In preparation of this process, now is the time to confirm that you know your parent login username and password. This information will be needed to complete the registration packet.
Please take a moment and ensure you can login to https://sis.powayusd.com. If you do not know your username and/or password, you can visit https://password.powayusd.com to retrieve your login credentials.
Please notify your current Principal via email as soon as possible if you do not plan to return to PUSD for the 2020-2021 school year.
*ONCE SCHOOL RESUMES, WE WILL BE COLLECTING ALL REQUIRED SIGNED PAPERWORK*
