Week of Code
We will celebrate the week of Dec. 4-8
What is Hour of Code?
The Hour of Code is a first step in showing all students what computer science is all about. The Hour of Code is a self-guided activity that anybody can do. A variety of tutorials will be available to teach the basics of computer science. The Hour of Code is sponsored by Code.org and aims to raise awareness and generate interest in the field of computer science.
Why Computer Science?
Kids are constantly using technology today, but how many are learning to build it? Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science, yet fewer schools teach computer science than 10 years ago. The basics help nurture creativity and problem-solving skills, and prepare students for any future career.
What Do I Need to Do?
New Prospect is already signed up to participate in Hour of Code. There are a variety of activities that you and your students can participate in (with little to no prep time). You can use the IPad carts (Apps will be loaded for you), computer labs, activboard and you can even do an activity unplugged (with no device). The choice is yours.
