Message from Ms. Lambert
Dear Parents,
As we move into September, it is a great time to talk about reading time at home. Please make time each day for your child to read at least 20 minutes. Reading any material of their choice provides practice for them to apply the reading skills they are learning during the day and providing choice for them helps with their motivation to read. Ask them about what they have read and remember to ask questions that can't be answered with yes or no!
Our library and the public library are great sources of books to use at home. Your child's teacher can also help you find sources for books at home. Enjoying interesting reading at home is a great family activity and enhances your child's academic success at the same time! Please feel free to let me know how I can support you with this.
Best Regards,

Project Cornerstone
Dear Wonderful Parents -
Please consider giving your time to Project Cornerstone - we still need volunteers! The program is in both Spanish and English for both Castro and Mistral. Readers for both languages are needed - all trainings and materials are in both languages.
Look at the list below - the follow readers are still needed to make sure that ALL classrooms are supported for Project Cornerstone. Just 2 hours a month to help keep our community strong, learning and growing together.
You can reply to me, sign up outside your class or show-up to the first meeting.
First PC training meeting is Thursday Sept 1 at 8:15am or 5:30pm (pick one).
Thank you! Dara Tynefield, Lynn Owano & Minka Van der Zwaag

Why is it important that students are in school regularly?
