D103 Considers Remote Learning Summer School
Hello D103 Families,
With school being closed for the remainder of the academic year due to the COVID-19 virus, and as families have moved into the Remote Learning stage of our current educational process, we have received inquiries regarding the status of District 103’s summer school programs.
- In-person Enrichment, Intervention and English Language Learner summer classes have been canceled.
The district is exploring the possibility of providing a Remote Learning Enrichment, Intervention and English Learner Summer School Program.
- Extended School Year (ESY) programming for students receiving Special Education services will follow federal guidance. The Special Education Department will be in touch with families regarding the time frame for the ESY classes and a communication has been sent to SPED staff regarding alternate dates.
Enrichment, ESY and English Language Learner information:
The district will refund in-person summer school registration fees to the credit card you used when you registered your child. This process will be completed by the end of June, 2020.
Please fill out the Summer School Remote Learning Survey for more information and to help guide the District’s decision-making with regard to possible alternative summer school options.
If there is enough interest in a Remote Learning Summer School, a new registration process will be sent to families by the end of May.
Extended School Year (ESY) information:
If your child qualified for Extended School Year (ESY) services per their most recent Individual Education Plan (IEP), you have already received information regarding their ESY recommendations. We are monitoring the ongoing guidance provided at both the state and federal levels regarding special education students and what ESY services may look like for our students during the school closure period. We will keep families updated as we receive new information and determine when, where and how Extended School Year (ESY) classes will proceed.
Thank you for your understanding regarding this unpredictable situation we are facing.
Stay well,
