COVID-19 Update
December 4, 2021

Anyone who tests positive, must ISOLATE....
- For a minimum of 5 days from onset of symptoms or from date of positive test if no symptoms
- Can return to work/school on Day 6 if fever-free for 24 hours AND symptoms are improving
- Must wear a mask Days 6–10*
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, must ISOLATE and...
- Get tested.
- If these symptoms are explainable by an underlying condition (such as shortness of breath for an individual with asthma) exclusion may not be necessary.
- The symptoms in the graphic to the right are not the only symptoms of COVID-19, but are only those that should trigger an automatic exclusion and evaluation for COVID-19. Other symptoms may include fever, chills, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea/vomiting, or diarrhea.
- A person is able to spread the virus up to two (2) days before they have any symptoms, but many COVID-19 cases show no symptoms at all.
Anyone exposed to COVID-19 may have to QUARANTINE for 10 days...
Whether you do or not depends on your vaccination status
Whether you do or not depends on your vaccination status
Individuals can avoid quarantine if they are:
Age 18 or older and are fully vaccinated, it's been more than two weeks since the last shot and not yet eligible for a booster**
Age 18 and older and are fully vaccinated AND received booster if eligible**.
Ages 5-17 and are fully vaccinated with Pfizer and it's been more than 2 weeks since the last shot

Individuals have to quarantine for 10 days from the last day of contact with the positive person if they:
- Are not vaccinated
- Are vaccinated but have not received the booster if eligible**
Individuals have to quarantine for 15 days if they live in the same household with the positive person and that person cannot isolate:
- Only have to quarantine if not vaccinated or are vaccinated but have not received the booster if eligible**
- Quarantine for the five days of isolation for the positive person and
- Then quarantine for another 10 days
Richland Two is following the 10-day quarantine option while our community is in high spread and there is a large number of positives and close contacts that must be tracked.

SCENARIOS FOR CONSIDERING TEMPORARY SWITCH TO VIRTUAL
Based on the current guidance from S.C. DHEC, Richland Two considers temporarily switching a grade level at a school or an entire school to virtual in the following scenarios:
- School is unable to maintain operations with current staffing as determined by the school district;
- 30% or higher rate of absenteeism in the school or grade level due to COVID-19 (including students in isolation and in quarantine);
- 5–10% or higher of the student body is in isolation simultaneously after testing positive (or being assumed positive based on symptoms when not tested); or
- When discussed with and recommended by local medical and public health professionals based on the local healthcare system’s capacity.
* Per district administrative rule ADD-R, employees and students will wear a face covering while in indoor common areas (e.g., main office, lobby, hallway, workroom, cafeteria, etc.); while in classrooms; while on district transportation; while attending a school/district related event/activity (e.g., athletic event, performance, field trip, etc.); and while conducting business on behalf of the district (e.g. conducting a home visit, supervising athletic events, etc.).
