4th Grade Art Project
The Carlisle PTA is very excited to announce that local artist, Kristen Penrod, is coming to Carlisle to help our 4th graders create three amazing and unique pieces of art representing themselves and their activities that will be available for auction during the Spring Carnival on April 22nd. Kristen's work has been featured in the Plano Profile magazine and she recently won an award for her 3D artwork at the Plano 125 art exhibition. She also has created a video that was chosen for competition later this year. Her daughter attends Carlisle and she has generously volunteered her time and supplies.
We've worked out the dates and times for Kristen to meet with our 4th graders and help them create this fun and unique art!
Renee Miller has graciously agreed to welcome the kids into her art room during her planning period (their recess) AND her time with them twice a week for the next 2-3 weeks.
The dates we have for this project so far are as follows:
Monday, March 27 11:30 - 12:50
Thursday, March 30 11:30 - 12:50
Monday, April 3 11:30 - 12:50
Thursday April 6 11:30 - 12:50

From the Nurse
This week the PISD Food Service Department offered free breakfast to all students. At this writing, over 120 breakfasts were served on Tuesday and over 130 on Wednesday. At this rate our cafeteria ladies will moving at top speed to keep up. We are so glad that a lot of students have tried the school breakfast. Breakfast normally costs $1.30. If a student gets free lunch, breakfast is included. If a student gets reduced priced breakfast, the cost is $.30. Students are not singled out for these benefits. They simply enter their ID number at the cashier like everyone else. Here is the link to the reduced cost meal application. You are encouraged to apply if you think you qualify: https://fans.pisd.edu/fma/.
This link will get you to the page where you can find the menus and nutritional information as well as the MealViewer app: http://k12.pisd.edu/food-and-nutritional-services/contributions/14222-menus-and-nutritional-information.
Breakfast is normally served beginning at 7:10 AM. The last students are served at 7:25 AM. Your child will need to arrive at school a little early to take advantage of breakfast but it is well worth it. The next dates for free breakfast are May 8-12.
When a student comes to the clinic with a headache or stomachache, my first question to them is “What did you eat for breakfast.” Too many times the answer is “Nothing.” There are so many reasons why a student might skip breakfast, however, if your family makes school breakfast a habit, you are likely to ensure a great day of feeling well and learning well. Parents can eat breakfast for $2.25 if they would like to join their child at the tables outside the cafeteria. What a treat for parents who may not be able to join their child at school for lunch due to work constraints. We hope to see you soon at breakfast.
