Lamkin Lines
September 2, 2022
From the Principal
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year at Lamkin, home of the leopards! We are thrilled to welcome 860+ students to school each day. Our students and staff have had a wonderful two weeks of school meeting new friends, learning routines and following their daily schedule. We at Lamkin look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure the best year for your child.
Bus Transportation: CFISD moved to a four-tiered bus system to be as efficient as possible while ensuring safety for all students. We appreciate your patience and help with bus transportation.
- We unload as soon as buses arrive at Lamkin each morning.
- Please ensure that your child has their personal badge attached to their backpack in order to badge in each time they board or disembark from the bus.
- At dismissal, our buses arrive for loading in shifts. Once the bus arrives, our goal is to load in 8-10 minutes.
Car Riders: Our car rider line is very long due to increased traffic in our area and we have a system in place to keep it moving as quickly as possible while keeping safety our number one priority.
- Please make sure to leave your car tag displayed throughout the entire process. Please review your car tag number with your child so that he/she recognizes the number when it is called.
- We have a staff member near the middle of the line recording the order of the cars and it is very important that all drivers join the line at the end and not in the middle. This messes up the student order and takes longer to load students.
- Students need to be ready to exit the car in the morning as soon as you are pulled up in the unloading zone.
Safety Drills: We have started practicing safety drills so that students are prepared in the event of an emergency. Fire drills are conducted monthly and other drills are one-two times per year.
Open House: We welcome you and your children to grade level open house nights at Lamkin. Your attendance is encouraged and important to facilitate communication between home and school.
- Tuesday, September 13, 2022- 6:00-7:00pm for ECSE, PK, Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grades
- Tuesday, September 20, 2022- 6:00-7:00pm for life skills, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades
- Parking is allowed in the front, back and on the side.
Lunch Visitors: We look forward to allowing parent/guardian visitors for lunches beginning the week of September 12th.
- We will allow lunch visitors on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Please call the front desk prior to the day you wish to visit to reserve your spot. Due to space constraints and safety protocols, we will limit the number of lunch visitors. Please make sure to call and check availability before coming to Lamkin for lunch.
We look forward to a successful year at Lamkin full of fun, learning and growing. In September, our students will learn about showing school spirit and empathy during their class meetings, end of day announcements and Launch class (gr K-5). We are committed to “Bringing out the Best in our Lamkin Leopards!”

Attention Car Rider Parents
Lamkin needs your help! We have noticed an increase in the number of students coming in late and not being picked up on time from school. As students learn the procedures, we get faster each day unloading and loading cars. Learning begins each day at 8:15 and your child is counted as tardy if he/she is not at school by that time. ALL students need to be picked up each day in the car rider line by 3:55 pm. If you are not able to be at Lamkin by 3:55pm, you will need to call the office and let us know so we can arrange for an administrator to stay with your child.
if you are experiencing difficulty arriving each day for pick up by 3:55pm, we do have a wonderful before and after school program called Club Rewind that might be able to help you. Click on the link below for information about this program.

Remember - the bus is another safe way to transport your child to and from Lamkin Elementary. Feel free to reach out to us if you have questions about bus riding or Club Rewind. We're happy to assist you!
Texas Roadhouse Spirit Night
Lamkin spirit night is Monday, Sept. 26th, from 5:00-9:00. Enjoy 2 free kid’s meals with the purchase of 1 adult entrée’ and Lamkin will receive 15% of the total – it’s that easy! So mark your calendar and make plans not to cook. Curbside pick-up counts!
Labor Day
Remember there will be no school on Monday, September 5th in honor of Labor Day and Monday, September 26th for teacher planning.
Bring a Water Bottle
Please send your child with their own re-fillable water bottle every day. Lamkin does not have water fountains available for sanitary reasons, and does not have the resources to provide every student with a water bottle. Thank you for your help with this!
USDA Smart Snack Rule
The Cypress-Fairbanks school district implemented the guidelines of the Texas public school nutrition policy as mandated by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) into its breakfast, lunch and snack programs.
Snacks for special events like birthdays, may be purchased from the cafeteria provided they are served and consumed during lunch. You will need to give the cafeteria a two week notice if ordering cookies or ice cream for birthday celebrations and must purchase enough for your child’s class only.
Please refer to your student handbook; page HB 58 for additional information.
- No cupcakes, cookies, cakes or other treats can be brought into the school and given to students.
- You may not bring lunch for another student or share lunch without written permission from that student’s parent/guardian.
Thank you for your cooperation with this. Please feel free to call the front office if you have any questions.

Z-Pass
Students carry a small card that automatically logs their entry or exit when they pass the scanner on the school bus. The information is then instantly and securely available to you. Notifications can also be sent directly to your computer or to your cell phone via text message. Z Pass+ brings you a whole new level of assurance. Knowing when and where your child gets on and off the bus gives you added peace of mind and makes it easier for you to plan your day. Click on https://www.zpassplus.com/ for additional information.
Change in Transportation
If you need to change the way your child is going home or you need to pick your child up early, please send a note with the student with their first and last name, grade and teacher and specific instructions on what needs to happen. All notes are due in the front office by 2:00 p.m. to allow us time to get the notes back to the teachers. Thank you for helping us get your child home safe to you!
