Our annual Salsa Festival is coming up on September 21, 2023 and we are looking for volunteers to assist with: festival set up and clean up, chip and drink sales, and handing out tickets. We are excited for our annual friendly competition between the classes and are also eager to taste family homemade salsa. School Site Council
Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 19th from 3:15-4:15 PM. You can find the agenda here if you would like to attend.
McKinley and PACS School Site Council is seeking new school-site council members! Our school-site council is a decision-making body that helps drive our school-site plan and goals and advises on how we spend our school resources. The school-site council is composed of 5 parents and 5 faculty members. Ideally, we would have a balanced school-site council composed of 1 parent from TK/K, 1-2 parents from 1st-3rd, 1-2 parents from 4th-6th, and 1 parent from 7th-8th. All parents are invited to attend the school-site council meetings, however, elected members will be responsible for voting at these school-site council meetings. Walking School Bus
McKinley now has a Wednesday Walking School Bus. Join the fun while supporting Walk and Roll to School!
For families that would like to participate in the Walking School Bus, you may drop your 3rd-8th grade student(s) off between 7:45-8:00. We will be walking from PEP Housing, 167 Edith St., towards Madison St., then right to Ellis St. and then entering McKinley School through the Gate of Excellence. For families that live on or near this route, we would love for you to "hop" on the Walking School Bus, all you need to do is fill out a permission slip to get started!

Art Docent Volunteers
Are you interested in art? Do you like children? Combine the two in a unique volunteer opportunity! The Art Docent Program is looking for volunteer docents to teach art in elementary grade classrooms. Absolutely no art experience is necessary- all you need is a love of art and the desire to bring art into children’s lives. Volunteer time is flexible and training time is minimal.
We will be having a few MANDATORY Informational meetings for all interested people:
When: Wednesday, 9/13 @ 9 a.m OR 9/14 @ 9 a.m..
Where: McDowell Elementary (room A2) 421 South McDowell Blvd.

Reminder that we are smack dab in the middle of our Jog-a-Thon fundraiser! The Jog event is Sept 29th, and we are raising money all month long! We are collecting your Jog Envelopes on Sept 29th. Please send them back that day, and if you raise funds AFTER Sept 29th bring them to the office in an envelope with your child’s name and the word “Jog!”
