Boundary Lines for New Northwest Area School
A committee charged with considering where to draw attendance boundary lines for the new northwest elementary school on Lyons Mill Road in Owings Mills has begun a series of meetings that will ultimately determine boundary line recommendations to be made to the Board of Education. The committee, which is composed of school officials, parents, community members, and representatives of schools likely to be affected by the new attendance lines, will discuss and weigh data and options throughout the fall before developing possible scenarios for stakeholders to consider. Individuals who are not on the committee are welcome to attend its meetings to observe the process, but not to actively participate. There will be a public forum on the scenarios on Wednesday, November 19th from 7 – 8 p.m. at New Town High School to incorporate public input into the decision-making process.

A Note From the Principal
Dear Families,
We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to attend Woodholme's Family Learning Nights in order to learn ways you can help reinforce learning at home! Our teachers have been creating activities and gathering materials so you can walk away from the sessions with ideas and activities to use at home to strengthen academic skills. The evenings will be made up of three sessions, including an optional session on BCPS One. This opportunity is different from the Back to School Night events where teachers presented information about classroom procedures and grade level expectations. These events are designed for our parents and families to learn about fun and helpful ways to increase student achievement and strengthen skills by doing activities together at home, so please join us from 6-8 PM on October 14th (for Kindergarten and Grades 1 and 2) and/or on October 21st (for Grades 3, 4, 5) to learn how you can help! Let's work together to help our children succeed!
Sincerely,
Teresa Young
