Stadium Drive Helps others
We have been busy helping others at Stadium Drive during the month of March. A few points of pride are listed below:
- 1000 pairs of children's socks were collected and will be split between Love INC and Safe Harbor charities.
- Care bags are being constructed for children in the hospital (Complete with wacky socks and a Dr. Seuss book).
- Dance-A-Thon will be donating over $5,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation.
- Five boxes of supplies were collected and delivered to the K9 Stray Rescue League.
Way to go Stadium Drive!
Sunrise Stories
This year’s sunrise stories event was another overwhelming success. Please see the pictures below as proof:
Managing Change
In an effort to assist parents with the transition of their children to new schools next year, Lake Orion's elementary family school coordinators and middle school counselors held a district-wide presentation on February 22 at the high school called “Helping Your Child Manage Change”. CLICK HERE for a copy of the presentation given and other resource information that were distributed to persons in attendance.
PTO News
Donuts with Dad registration is happening now. This event had an overwhelming response last year so we have added a second date to accommodate more families. Sessions will take place on April 21 and April 28 at 8:00 AM. The cost is $3 per person attending. Participants may attend one of the two sessions. The deadline for registration for BOTH sessions is April 12. Registration forms were sent home on March 28.
Spirit Stick sales are returning when we return from Spring Break. A cart with the sticks that are for sale will travel from classroom to classroom. The sale will be held on April 11 and April 12. An email will be sent home soon with the sticks we are offering this month. Spirit Sticks cost $1 each.
The PTO is very pleased to report that we have filled the committee chair positions for every PTO run event for the 2017-2018 school year. Additionally, we have candidates interested in every available board position for the next school year as well. We are happy to have a full team of volunteers lined up to plan these events next year, but your help is still needed. Every event we provide requires several volunteers to help plan and execute properly. Please consider helping this year and next so that we can continue to provide all that we do for our students. Watch our Facebook page for opportunities to help.
Not a part of our Facebook page? Search Stadium Drive Elementary PTO and request to join! This is the best way to stay up to date with all we do.
We held our fifth annual Adult Trivia Night on March 17 at the Legacy Center in Oxford. With close to 100 people in attendance, the event raised over $4300 for the PTO, which is the highest amount ever raised. Many thanks to everyone that came out to make this event such a great success. The PTO would also like to thank all the Stadium Drive families, local businesses and individuals that donated gift baskets for our prize raffle. Special thanks to the Legacy Center in Oxford for allowing us to host our event there at no cost. Finally, a special thanks goes out to Scott and Jen Taylor for organizing the event, as well as Stephanie and Geoff Harris for helping with those efforts. Many thanks to all the PTO volunteers that helped as well.
What do we do with all the money from events such as Trivia Night? While we are away on break, a brand new commercial grade tire swing will be installed on our playground courtesy of the PTO. We are excited to see our students enjoying this new feature when we return! Additionally, on April 19 our students will walk to Lake Orion High School to watch their production of The Music Man. The PTO will pay the admission for all staff and students in attendance.
Our next PTO meeting is April 13 at 6:00 PM. Child care will be available. If you are interested in helping next year, this will be a great meeting to attend. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
