Good-bye Winter, Hello Spring???
WOW! Weren't we just ringing in the new year? The groundhog didn't see his shadow so hopefully spring is around the corner. Well we have survived skating and all of the students had a great time! We have been working on reading goals, reading closely for information, exploring the seven ancient wonders of the world, and long division. The students have been working very hard and I have a great room of readers. We have a fundraiser for our annual pancake and sausage breakfast coming in March. Information was sent home on Friday. Please volunteer for this fundraiser if you can. The fourth grade is very fortunate to go to Medieval Times for our field trip. Our PTC pays half of this cost. If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
We have started to learn about the Revolutionary War. We read about the French and Indian War and now we are learning about the taxes the colonists were being forced to pay. Throughout the unit the students will play the roles of patriots and loyalists to read and write from their point of view.
In math we have finished and tested over long division. We have started to learn about number patterns.
Seven Wonders Research
In Social Studies the students have been researching the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World in groups. They will be presenting their project on a display board. We have discussed researching on the internet and the reliability of internet sources while working on this project.
