Principal's Message
Hello Stetson Families,
Happy Friday! It has been quite an eventful week with the snow. Thanks for your patience and understanding especially with our school pictures. If your child did not get a chance to get their picture taken this week, please do not worry. We have arranged another date in January for makeups.
We are all looking forward to the winter break next week. We hope you get a chance to relax and spend valuable time with your family! We are all in need of a recharge every once in and while. Wishing you much happiness and good health during the holiday season. We are looking forward to getting back into the groove of school again in January. Let's hope the big snow totals are over for this winter season.
Reminders for next week:
- Cohort A attends school, in-person on Monday, December 21st
- Cohort B attends school, in-person on Tuesday, December 22nd
- Wednesday is a REMOTE DAY for ALL students *1/2 day schedule
- MDS students are in in-person learning for three days this week.
Long Term Schedule for Cohorts
Please speak to your child and remind them to please make sure they are logging in remotely or attending school during this short week and using their school-issued laptop. We recognize that it may be difficult to stay focused at this time of the year but we are all in this together! The break will be here soon enough.
We are doing all we can to provide a safe and caring learning environment for all students despite the current challenging conditions in our community. If you wish to keep your hybrid learner at home or RETURN back to the hybrid in-person model, you need to request this in an email directly to me at mpuchalla@wcasd.net. We want to be sure that all of our students feel safe when they return back and that there is plenty of room in their scheduled class in the building.
It is also important that our students and staff are taking precautions outside of school as well, for as we've seen by now, the virus contracted outside of school can have a direct impact on what happens in school.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thanks for your time and attention!
Have a great weekend,
Mrs. Puchalla

Textbook info
Attention 7th and 8th Grade Students:
We are requesting that families check at home for any science, math, or social studies textbooks from last year that were not returned. If you find a textbook, please bring it to school during your in-person hybrid day and give it to your current science, math, or social studies teacher. If you are a cyber or remote-only student, the book can be dropped off at Stetson. Thank you for your help as we try to account for any missing textbooks!
After School Athletics for 7th & 8th Graders ONLY--Cyber & Remote Students
We are happy to announce that our Winter Season will begin in January. While adhering to the WCASD health and safety plan, we are organizing a boys and girls basketball team and a new fitness team this year.
Attention wrestlers, fitness buffs (male and female alike), or anyone who is in 7th or 8th grade who feels you can benefit from a hardcore boot camp-like daily workout. Due to the COVID situation, we are offering an opportunity to participate in our fitness team. The fitness program is in lieu of our wrestling team. For this year each of the middle school wrestling teams has converted to a fitness team. The fitness team workouts will begin on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. Practices will run every day from 3:00 until 4:30/ 5:00. Most of the workouts will be conducted outside. These workouts will consist of calisthenics, strength, and endurance training as well as problem-solving. This program is designed to develop the individual’s physical and mental toughness. The season will culminate with a fitness competition at one of the middle schools. The goal is for all three schools to compete in a socially distanced competition while adhering to the CDC and the WCASD guidelines. Questions, please contact Mr. Willi J Corcoran our athletic director at wcorcoran@wcasd.net.
Dept. of Health guidelines and regulations restrict the number of people we can have indoors in one location. It's imperative that families let us know about their interest in these sports so we can make sure all students can participate. We are asking that you complete the appropriate google form below NO LATER THAN JAN. 4th.

8th Grade parents--Holiday gift idea
Rustin High School online school store is officially open! Shop away! CLICK HERE to get to the store. Use the code GRANDOPENING20 when checking out to get 25% off your order. The store will be open year-round but if you want to get a gift by the holidays, my sales rep suggested you get your order in by the first week of December. COVID could add to delays in shipping or inventory. The 25% off sales runs until Dec. 4.
To see all of the designs, scroll down to “SEE DESIGNS”. On the left-hand side, you can add a category if you want but it’s not required. It’s pretty easy to navigate around but let me know if you have any questions.
Message about Attendance--Cyber & Remote Learners
When a student misses class due to a doctor's appointment, please email the teacher whose class they will miss and Mrs. Sadik (lsadik@wcasd.net) in the Attendance Office. Please ask the doctor for a note and email/scan a copy of the note to Mrs. Sadik so the missed time can be entered as excused.
A reminder that students are to attend all FOUR classes each day. If they miss 2 out of the 4 classes, they are officially marked absent for the day.
If your child is going to be absent for the entire day, we need an email from the parent/guardian on file in Power School. Please make sure your information in Power School is updated for our records.
CYBER STUDENTS--MUST submit attendance quiz in Schoology by 10:45 am EACH DAY or they will be marked absent. Please remind your children about this task.
Counselor Information for Parents
Advisory--Remote Learners
All students are required to attend this class in person and remotely. Attendance will be taken each class period. I hope you have gotten a chance to look at the planning sheet (has current grades on it). It was sent to you by your child and is updated weekly. If you have not, please discuss with your child at home and reach out to the grade level administrator if you have any additional questions.
We will continue to work on executive functioning skills, building initiatives, and individual academic support for all students. This time block is also a good opportunity for students to catch up on missing work or touch base with a teacher to ask questions about an assignment.
