End of the Year Field Trips
We are beginning to plan for our end of the year field trips for 7th and 8th grade. 7th grade will be going to McDermont Field House and 8th grade will be going to Island Water Park. If you would prefer to not attend a field trip and stay on campus to work with students who don't attend or are ineligible to attend, please let me know. If you teach both 7th and 8th grade and you have a preference for which field trip you would like to attend, please let me know too.
Warrior Fun Day
Our last Warrior Fun Day of the year is scheduled for Friday, May 19th. Students are ineligible to attend if they have 5 or more detentions or have library owes. We will begin messaging this in the bulletin and start sign-ups for teachers next week.
Safety Monitors
We are excited to have two additional lunchtime safety monitors join the staff. Amber Ruiz and Guadalupe Castillo will be starting next week. This will help us out with increased supervision during lunchtime.
Quarter 4 Grades and Benchmarks
The end of year grade and benchmark windows are staggered for 6th/7th & 8th. In order to determine graduation eligibility for 8th grade students, the benchmark window for 8th grade will be: 5/15-5/18 and grade will be due 5/19. The 6th/7th grade benchmark window will be 5/22-5/26 and grades will be due 5/26
May 4th- SBAC
On May 4th, Sue and I will be off campus at TCOE for the History/Social Science Framework roll-out. Yesenia and Sam will be joining us. Because we will be SBAC testing that day, Stephen will be the test coordinator for the day :)
SBAC Snacks
We have ordered juice and granola bars for all students during testing so that they have snacks in the morning since lunch is later. These snacks will be distributed each day to your class. We are going to house the snacks in the conference room. But as a reminder, these are for our students. We will also have snacks in the front office for the staff :)
SBAC Testing & Softball/Baseball Game
On Monday, May 1st, we will be SBAC testing throughout the day. Our baseball and softball players will be leaving for a game after lunch. This means they will be able to start the assessment during 5th period, but not be able to finish it, because they won't be returning to class after lunch. If you have these students in your class, please encourage them to take their time, and let them know that they will have time during the make-up testing process.
Teacher Appreciation Week
During the week of May 8th-12th we will be celebrating and honoring our teachers and classified staff and the incredible work you've done this year.
There will be a variety of treats throughout the week and we will culminate with a Hawaiian Luau on Friday where lunch will be provided. Don't forget to show your school spirt by wearing your favorite Hawaiian shirt for our dress up day :)
