Wednesday's 3:15-4:00 in room 401 with Miss Brockman.
This is a time when students may come in and begin their homework, work on reassessment, or just receive additional help with math. All middle school students are welcome to come to either or both office hours.
Expectations:
- Work on math material first.
- Keep voices down so that everyone can focus on their own material.

Middle School Math Reassessment Policy
6th Grade Math
This week students reviewed for the unit 4 test on Monday. Tuesday they took the test. On Wednesday we will began the geometry unit with talking about new vocabulary and notation for points, lines, rays, and line segments to name a few. On Thursday our discussion was on angles and angle pair relationships. Friday I only met with one class for a full period, so those students got a head start on homework about angles and lines.
Next week I will discuss Triangles on Monday and quadrilaterals/other polygons on Tuesday. Wednesday will be review in class and students will take a quiz on Thursday (7.1-7.4) Friday we will talk about congruent figures.
There have been several times that I assign watching a video as part of the homework. This will continue throughout the year. I have talked with the class about the importance of watching the video and taking notes. If your child is having trouble accessing the video please arrange for them to come to school right at 7:40 so that they can watch it in my room on one of the school computers.
8th Grade Standard Pace
This week students reviewed on Monday and Tuesday for the chapter 5 test. They took the test on Wednesday. After the test students were able to complete activities about slope and rate of change. Thursday and Friday we talked about writing and graphing equations in slope intersect form (y = mx + b).
Next week on Monday students in 8A will be making art on graph paper using linear functions with parents and grandparents that attend. Students in 8B will do the same activity, but they will not be joined by their parents/grandparents. On Tuesday the topic will be applying linear functions. Wednesday students will learn about standard form of linear equations. Thursday there may be limited class time but time allowing I will introduce point slope form. With the spelling bee on Friday I don't believe that we will have much, if any, class time.
There will be several times that a video will be assigned as part or all of the homework for the rest of this year. If your child is having difficulty accessing or watching the videos please arrange for them to come to school right at 7:40 so that they can watch it in my room or in their homeroom on one of the school computers.
8th Grade Accelerated Pace
On Monday students learned about slope and slope intercept form of linear functions . Tuesday our focus was applications and limitations of linear functions. Students began to write equations for word problems and discussed when linear equations are useful and not useful. Wednesday I talked about writing and graphing functions in standard form (Ax+By=C). We also spent time addressing lingering questions about writing equations for word problems. Thursday I talked about writing and graphing equations in point-slope form. Friday we ended our week with parallel and perpendicular lines.
Next week on Monday students in 8A will be making art on graph paper using linear functions with parents and grandparents that attend. Their designed will be inspired by the De Stijl art movement. Students in 8B will do the same activity, but they will not be joined by their parents/grandparents. On Tuesday we will talk about writing the equation for a line of best fit on a scatter plot. Students were able to vote to have their quiz 6.1-6.4 on either Tuesday or Wednesday and the majority of students requested Wednesday, so the first part of class will be the quiz. The remainder of the class will be finishing a scatter plot activity by calculating their line of best fit. Thursday there may be limited math time so time allowing I will talk about graphing absolute value equations.
