The Ely Happening
March, 2023
A Message From Mr. Easton
Dear Ely Families,
We are only a few weeks away from closing another quarter at Ely Elementary. Next Friday is the last day of the 3rd Quarter. Just as a reminder to reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions about grades or assignments.
This past month we have had several activities for students to participate in. We had Rick Smith Jr. due perform a magic show as part of our 2nd quarter incentive for students. We also had an Attendance Wars that saw our Kindergarten students having the highest average attendance during a two week period. The Kindergarten students will be having a movie and pop-corn party as their reward. Finally in just a few weeks we will be having our next PBIS quarterly incentive with Outback Ray.
In just a few short weeks our 3rd and 4th grade students will be participating in the OST (Ohio State Test). If you have any concerns or questions about the upcoming testing please make sure to reach out to your child's teacher. OST Testing Dates:
- March 28th (3rd Grade ELA)
- March 29th (4th Grade ELA)
- March 30th (3rd Grade ELA)
- March 31st (4th Grade ELA)
- April 25th (3rd Grade Math)
- April 26th (4th Grade Math)
- April 27th (3rd Grade Math)
- April 28th (4th Grade Math)
As always I encourage you to reach out if you ever have any questions or concerns. Together we are going to continue to make this school year "The Best Year Ever" as finish off the 3rd quarter strong.

- Parents please make sure you are pulling all the way forward in the morning
- Your child can exit the vehicle anywhere along the sidewalk
- Please note that the tardy bell rings at 9:10. Any child being dropped off after this time their parent will need to sign them in the front office.
- Please turn right out of the parking lot during the indicated times on the sign to help with traffic in the car loop.
- Please do not park in the small loop-this loop is for daycare and busses only.
- Parent please only have your child get out of your vehicle on the passenger side. They should not be getting on the drivers side as this can cause a safety concern
Dismissal
Car Rider:
I just wanted to say thank for you all of your support this year during dismissal. Our dismissal process this year has been much smoother than last year. One main reason for the success this year is that cars are turning right out of the parking lot to avoid a back-up in the car rider line. Please continue to turn right to allow for a quick flow of traffic through car rider dismissal.
Any parent/guardian picking up a student in the car rider line will need to make sure that their car rider tag is visible in the car. Please note that the purpose for this car rider tag is to ensure a safe and smooth dismissal at Ely. Parents please make sure that you are leaving your car rider tag up in the car till your child gets into the car.
Please see below for a few reminders:
- Please make sure you are pulling all the way forward
- Please try to avoid backing up traffic on Ohio Street and Gulf. You may use the smaller parking lot located closest to Gulf (American Legion).
- Please stay in your car. If you do need to get out of your car to help your child, please use a parking spot
- Please have your child load and unload on the curbside of the school (passenger side of car) for your child's safety
- Please do not park in the bus/day care rider loop. You may use the provided parking spaces.
- Please turn right out of the parking lot during the indicated times on the sign to help with traffic in the car loop.
