Leave Policy Reminders
- When taking Professional Leave, ACPS is not able to reimburse employees for mileage for travel for conferences. ACPS provides staff with a county car to use to travel to the conference.
- Policy Update that took effect July 1, 2023- Regulation GCBD-R:
- General leave will be able to be accumulated up to 5 days. That means that beginning with the 23-24 school year, if you don't use your general leave days, they will remain in your general leave days balance the following year. They will then be added to the new general leave days you earned that year. The maximum number of days that can be accumulated by a staff member is 5 total days. Any general leave days that would accumulate beyond the 5 days will still roll over to sick leave as our current regulation states.
- The addition of 12 month staff in the general leave section.
- The addition of bereavement leave. Beginning July 1st, ACPS will provide 5 days of paid bereavement leave for the death of a close family member and 3 days of paid bereavement leave for the death of an immediate family member.
- Please click here to see the revisions to this policy.
STAT-Student/Teacher Assistance Team
Student/Teacher Assistance Team (STAT) Process
- The teacher identifies a student challenge (academic, attendance, conduct, etc.).
- The teacher researches possible actions (using the Behavior Intervention Manual and other sources).
- The teacher implements several interventions and documents the effectiveness of each.
- If the interventions are successful, the teacher continues to support the student in this manner. If the interventions are partially, or not fully successful, the teacher completes a request for a STAT meeting on the school-based form.
- A STAT meeting is scheduled-including the classroom teacher(s), a school administrator, a school counselor, a peer teacher, and the parent.
- At the STAT meeting, discussions include the student’s current progress, the success of interventions implemented, and parental input. The team develops an implementation plan to address committee concerns. The plan and meeting are documented and a follow-up meeting date/time is scheduled.
- The teacher, parent, and assigned participants implement the plan with fidelity.
- The committee reconvenes to review student progress. The committee determines whether to continue with the plan, change or adjust the plan, refer the case to the Child Study team, or close the case.
