Can't Hide Our Hound Pride!
Howdy Hounds!
Thank goodness for SUNSHINE! I hope everyone has had a great weekend...and got a chance to enjoy some of this weather after a very dreary couple of weeks.
Every parent has a voice in Lamar Consolidated Independent School District's ongoing pursuit of educational excellence. We are seeking your feedback about tour school, focusing on critical school issues such as academic preparation, student support, family engagement, school operations, and accessibility of school leaders. This survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Parents/guardians with students in more than one school who would like to take the survey for each student may submit additional responses via the District website, or you may click the link that appears on the thank you message once you have submitted this survey response to be directed to take the survey again. Please know that all your answers will be treated in a confidential manner. Since data will be viewed on a collective level only, reports will not identify individuals. No one in the District will know whether you have participated unless you identify yourself in the space for open-ended comments. After the survey closes, we will report the findings publicly, sharing what we have learned, and what specific changes you may anticipate as a result of your feedback. Engaging in an ongoing dialogue is critical as we work together to provide our students with the best possible education.Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Please see below for the link.
We had more classes earn 5 days of perfect attendance this week! Congratulations to the following classes, they have earned a hat pass (details will come from the homeroom teacher): Melnar, Moss, Martinez, Chaddrick, Adams, A. Fetterman, A Jucker, Gill, Free, Fisbeck, Pope, Whipple, Fohner, Hinze, Hood and Capistran!
Although the weather did not help us last week, we are seeing a heavy influx of students that are tardy to school when coming by car rider. As a reminder, our doors open at 6:45am each day to accommodate our car rider line. Our line is short and sweet from 6:45-7:10am. Please help us by dropping off during this time frame to ensure your student makes it into their classroom by 7:30am. Our teachers start instruction promptly at 7:30, and we want to make sure we are taking advantage of every instructional minute for our hounds!
We are very proud of our third, fourth, and fifth graders for their hard work this past week on their district benchmarks for reading. We will be holding make-ups this week for students that were absent. Our fifth graders will be taking their science benchmarks on Thursday, and then we will continue with math benchmarks next week. As a reminder, our benchmarks provide us with important data we need to ensure our students have mastered grade-level content and provides teachers' with the necessary insight they need to provide differentiated learning opportunities for our students as we move into the spring semester.
Finally, we are looking forward to seeing our little ladies all dressed up for our Sweetheart Dance on Friday. If you have not done so, please be sure to purchase your ticket (link below) so that FOH can get a good count of attendee.
Sincerely,
Bethany Cunningham
Principal

Class Attendance - Repeat
It's hard to believe that we are half-way through the school year, but we know our Hounds are working hard and will have a fantastic second semester. To help ensure we have the best semester yet, we will be celebrating the attendance of our students. Student attendance is a powerful predictor of positive student outcomes, and we want to ensure we have our Hounds here at school so that we can best support them. We will be looking for classes that have 100% attendance on a given day. Classes will have opportunities to earn rewards for whole class attendance, along with badges of pride to display on their classroom doors. We have compiled a list of incentives that classes will be able to earn as they achieve days of 100% attendance. These days will not have to be back-to-back, but an overall accumulation of 100% attendance days.
5 Days – Class Hat Day
10 Days – Class PJ Day
15 Days– 15 Minutes Extra Recess
20 Days- Popsicle Party
25 Days– Pizza Party
30 Days– Bingo Party
40 Days– Movie and Popcorn
We look forward to celebrating our school attendance with our students.

Smart Tags - Important! (repeat)
Dear Lamar CISD Parents,
We are requesting every student bus rider be prepared to show their Smart Tag identification badge when they board and exit transportation starting on Monday, November 28, 2022, the first day we return from the Thanksgiving Break.
The Smart Tag ID badge is a safety tool for students, parents, and drivers. The photo immediately identifies the student, and the vertical or horizontal orientation indicates secondary or elementary grade levels. The badge allows parents to check the exact times when a student boards and exits the bus. Additionally, the Parent Portal gives users the ability to see where the bus is in live time.
The Elementary and Secondary Student Handbooks do require students to have their Smart Tag ID badge when they board and exit the bus (see p. 64 for Elementary; see p. 51 for Secondary). Based on the student’s grade level, there may be consequences for a student who does not show their Smart Tag for 5 consecutive days (5 days for Secondary). We encourage parents to visit our district website for more information on Smart Tags in the student handbook (https://www.lcisd.org/departments/).
For the safety of our students and staff, we want all bus riders to follow this rule and may enforce a “No Tag, No Ride” rule in the future. If your student has not received their ID badge, please contact your campus directly. We appreciate your understanding, and we look forward to working together in making sure all students arrive to school and get home safely every day.
Yours in safety,
Lamar CISD Transportation
