HELP NEEDED
Principal Post
Roosevelt Families,
Last week at this time, we thought that just maybe we'd be able to come back to school this year and have some time together and wrap things up. Unfortunately, we now know that will not be possible. Like you, we are disappointed, but we recognize that the sacrifices we are making, while unpleasant, are in the best interest of our families and our community. We are in this together, and we will continue to encourage each other and our children to make the best of our situation.
We will continue to connect with you with our weekly newsletter, through KCS social media, and through your teachers via Dojo and Zoom. We want to, and need to, be connected with you all during this time apart. Reach out to us, engage us, and let us know that you are out there being part of our great Roosevelt Community!
I want to thank you for your feedback in the survey sent last week. Your perspectives were honest and appreciated. The support we felt has filled our buckets! The feedback is being considered as we move forward.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kelli Seymour and Dr. Philip Wright

Packet Pick-Up
In an effort to support and maintain students' knowledge learned throughout the year, we have prepared another packet of classwork. As you have been informed, these will be available FRIDAY, April 24 from 10-2 and MONDAY, April 27 from 10-5. You are welcome to come at any of the scheduled times that are convenient for you. If there are special circumstances you need to make us aware of, please call the school. We will be distributing those through the food distribution line at the cafeteria entrance. We are excited to see you!!
There will also be a bin to return any library books that you may have at home. Please plan to bring them with you at this time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How can I get the bus to deliver lunches to my address?
Answer: Please call 423-392-4416 and leave a voicemail to schedule delivery.
Question: My child needs additional work/advanced work/modified work.
Answer: Please reach out to your child's teacher. They can provide additional resources at this time.
Question: I worry about my child falling behind academically.
Answer: Packet work is meant to review and maintain what was already taught this school year. We will address any untaught standards when we return to school. Insuring that your child is reading each day is a great way to help them stay on track academically.
Question: My family cannot attend Zoom meetings.
Answer: Zoom meetings are completely optional. Join if you are able. You can also call into Zoom meetings by phone. Your teacher can share directions for joining by phone.
Question: How can we get correct answers for math/literacy problems?
Answer: Please reach out to your child's teacher for help. If you are struggling, there are likely many others feeling the same. Teachers will address questions in Zoom meetings or email. Teachers are constantly asking for additional ways to help students and will be more than happy to assist you.
A Message from Ms. Browder
Hello Roosevelt Families,
Thank you for allowing me to reach out to you during this time. I am hoping that this newsletter finds you and your family healthy and well. Please know how much all of us at Roosevelt are missing our Bears.
These past few weeks I have been able to attend several Zoom classroom meetings and enjoyed seeing our students’ smiles and hearing of their recent activities. I have also been calling families and checking in and have been happy to talk to so many of you. The goal of these contacts is just to reach out and let you and your family know that we are still here. The building may be closed, but we are ALL still working. As always, we want to support you and encourage you to contact us with any needs.
Please feel free to reach out to me (Alice Browder, School Counselor) at 423-857-2609…
abrowder@k12k.com...or through your child's Classroom Dojo or Remind. These are unprecedented times and struggles are sure to arise.
In the meantime, below are some resources that may help as you continue to work with your children at home.
