SUMMARY of RESEARCH
Smoking is a dangerous tobacco that causes illnesses and even death which needs to be prevented from being used. According to kids health, “Smoking is one of the worst things kids or adults can do to their bodies. Yet every single day about 3,900 kids between the ages 12 and 17 start smoking.” Additionally, smoking is bad because it clogs up the lungs and there are many symptoms that come from smoking such as, cancer, Lung disease, Heart disease, stroke and many other illnesses. Adding on, ”Each year, an estimated 443,000 people die prematurely from smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke, and another 8.6 million live with a serious illness caused by smoking.” Smoking is the number one tobacco use that can be prevented in the United States. One of the most effective ways to prevent smoking is to not smoke. Furthermore, if an adult were to smoke at home with children, “Johnny see Johnny do.” In other words, if the child sees you smoking, they will assume it is good and ok and they will start smoking themselves. In conclusion tobacco use is very dangerous. It can cause serious illness and death,but smoking can be prevented through many programs and not smoking at home.
