Resolve to Be Well
January 2021
It took me several days to reflect on the past year of 2020 and move my mind onto this upcoming year of 2021. As the new year set in, I slowly processed everything that had occurred last year. My resolve though to look forward and imagine all the possibilities excited me to the core moving me forward. I began to think about what I wanted this year to look like and began to explore the endless ideas for 2021!
What do you want 2021 to look like for you? What do you resolve to do about it? One resolution for myself was clear, my resolution to be well. Resolve to be well can be your beginning for 2021!!
Self-Care Action
Physical Self-care
Dance it out.
Psychological Self-care
Read or listen to books/magazines that you enjoy.
Emotional Self-care
Spend more time with people whom you want to be around.
Spiritual Self-care
Support causes you believe in like joining a club.
Being Intentional
Tip for Sticking to Positive Intentions
Rather than setting daily intentions based on what you think you should do, think about what you really want to bring into your life.
Eat Better
Start the new year eating better. Add on some healthy eating habits to your life like snacking the right way. Healthy snacking can be for those whom have time to prep and for those whom do not have time to prep as there are many nutritious snack ideas. Eating nutritious snacks keeps your body and mind healthy!
Stock Up On Easy, No-Prep Snacks
- Granola bars.
- Hand-held, no-peel fruits such as apples, berries, and grapes.
- Pre-made veggie packs, like carrots.
- Trail mix and nuts.
- String cheese.
- Organic fruit snacks.
Just Rest
Rest is needed for your body and mind to refresh itself. When your body is well rested, you can function better throughout your day and every day. Find ways to relax your body and mind. If needing to fall asleep, try deep breathing or even a mediation.
Deep breathing for relaxation
Breathing from your belly rather than your chest can activate the relaxation response and lower your heart rate, blood pressure, and stress levels to help you drift off to sleep.
Share your Life
It is a positive part of life to be connected to others and have positive relationships. Connections can be for a moment in time or can be lifetime positive relationships. Sharing your life with others is one way to create connections and build relationships. Sharing life experiences creates trust and respect laying down an intentional connection to build positive relationships.
Be intentional in building a positive relationship.
Take the time to get to know someone.
Keep Active
To be in good condition, is to stay active. Being active can be yoga, dancing, running or whatever keeps your body moving for a period of time. Maybe as the new year begins you can take the time to get back into keeping active. Or intentionally begin to become active.
Tips to Keeping Active.
Be understanding of setbacks and be encouraging with your progress. Learn how to keep yourself active and practice it.
Bring on the Joy
What brings you joy? Whatever it is, do something that brings you joy. That is how you can be intentional in your day and be purposeful in your actions. It can be a small joy. Anything that is just for you! Something that will bring a smile to your face.
Joy is ........
Cuddling with my dog
Listening to music
Talking with my friends
Walking outside in the sun
