In Tents Week of Camping
This Week
During speech time, we read a book about spring verbs (e.g., the flower is blooming, the egg is hatching, the grass is growing) and practiced working on -ing endings. We also played a fishing game where we used fishing poles to catch fish with pictures attached to them and talked about what was happening in the pictures (e.g., he is running, she is eating). We brushed up on our position/location concepts by looking at pictures and describing the bunny's location. We also read Ladybug, Ladybug, Where Are You? and matched nature pictures. During P.E., we rode tricycles around the big track!
With our friends from Room 4, we played in the camping dramatic play area! Some of us went fishing, while others prepared the grill, hung out in the tent, took photos, or looked at animals through binoculars. On the playgrounds, we popped bubble wrap, directed bikes with road signs, crawled through the tunnel, and played with basketballs, dolls, cars, balls, and Mr. Potato Head.
During circle time, we took turns picking which songs we wanted to listen to. We read books about having good manners, and books about caterpillars. We now have our very own caterpillars in the classroom! We'll be watching to see how our caterpillars grow each week. Together we named three of the caterpillars (Cathy, Gaga, and Bushy) and we're still looking for more name suggestions :)
We had a new friend, Alice, start this week. Welcome to Room 17, Alice!
