Weekly Wildcat

Hello Sundance Families!
We had a busy week at Sundance with a visit from over 45 site and district leaders throughout the week to view our classroom practices and systems at Sundance. We are so proud of the innovative practices happening at Sundance. Last week we also celebrated the incredible accomplishments of Chiyo Padilla, 2021/2022 Volunteer of the Year, Nicole Miles, 2021/2022 Classified Employee of the Year, and Danielle Oakes, 2021/2022 Teacher of the Year at our Starstruck event.
Our site is celebrating Digital Citizenship Week at Sundance next week with several SEL- tech related lessons lead by Mrs. Greenway, district-funded site sub. I included a few resources for at-home learning, too! Don't miss my Digital Halloween Challenge below!
A message from our Principal for the Day:
Mr.Benton here, 3rd grader at Sundance, and I am principal for a day. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! I was trying to figure out what to be when I grow up and I found out what I want to be,a Principal!!! As Principal today, I got to walk around the classrooms and give out catches to responsible students, record our Mindful Monday, drink hot chocolate, and spend the day with Mrs.Katz. This is very fun and I hope your child gets to be Principal For A Day one day!!!

- Arrival/Dismissal: We need support with arrival/dismissal procedures. Please sign-up here to assist 1 or more days per week.
- California Healthy Kids Survey: All 5th graders, staff, and families are invited to take the CHKS beginning on October 24th.
- Please complete: Although school meals are now free to all students under California’s new Universal Meals Program, the application for free and reduced-price meals is still very important. School funding depends in part on the number of students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. With all students now eating for free, fewer families are completing the application and schools are at risk of losing funds. Household income information is confidential and applying online is quick and easy. Plus, students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may also qualify for discounts on transportation, ESS, SAT and AP tests, home internet, and college application fees. Apply online at MySchoolApps.com, or pick up a paper application in the school office.
