Matanzas HS Weekly Update

January 6, 2023

Welcome Back Pirates!

We hope all of our MHS students and families had a restful holiday break - we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, January 9th bright and early!

9th and 10th Grade F.A.S.T. Testing

On Thursday, January 12 during 1st and 2nd period all 9th and 10th grade students will participate in the FAST (Florida Assessment of Student Thinking) ELA progress monitoring test #2. This will give our teachers valuable information about our students' learning progress since the first test of the year which was administered in September, and help us prepare students for the 3rd test in April, which will determine student graduation requirements. Testing locations will be posted in Schoology this week.

Dress Code Reminder - Blankets

Students are not permitted to wear blankets as clothing. The design of MHS requires students to travel both inside and outside to get to classes so students should dress appropriately for the weather while remaining in dress code. If a student is in need of warm winter clothing please contact our guidance department and we can assist your child. Blankets are not appropriate for school and will be confiscated from students and held in the deans office until a parent is able to come and pick up the item.

Campus Traffic Update - Student Drivers and Car Riders

Moving forward, all traffic entering and exiting the student parking lot at arrival and dismissal will use the Matanzas Woods Pkwy gate. Students who park on campus will all be directed to enter and leave campus through that gate, no traffic from the student parking area will be permitted to pass through the Pirate Nation Way gate at arrival or dismissal.

Parents are reminded that no student drop off or pick up should happen in the student parking lot or on Pirate Nation Way. All student drop off and pick up should be in the designated car rider line at the front of the school.

Senior Parents - Flagler Scholarship Deadline!

The Flagler Senior Scholarship Application closes on January 13th. This is a single application that Flagler County students can complete to be considered for over 175 local scholarships from local businesses and organizations.
