Cucinella Weekly Wrap-Up #15
Week of December 11, 2023
"YOU HAVE BRAINS IN YOUR HEAD. YOU HAVE FEET IN YOUR SHOES. YOU CAN STEER YOURSELF IN ANY DIRECTION YOU CHOOSE."—DR. SEUSS
Week Fifteen:
As we bid adieu to the first trimester of the school year, I am incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and resilience our students have shown. Their efforts, alongside the support from our amazing staff and families, have made this initial part of the academic year truly remarkable.
The transition into the second trimester marks a fresh start—a chance for our students to build upon their successes, learn from their experiences, and continue their journey of growth and discovery. We're excited about the opportunities that lie ahead! Let's harness the momentum gained from the first trimester to set new goals, embrace challenges, and strive for continued excellence.
Parents and guardians, your ongoing support and partnership in your child's education are invaluable. Please take some time to celebrate their accomplishments and discuss their aspirations for the upcoming trimester. Together, we can empower our students to reach their fullest potential. As we step into this new phase of the academic year, let's maintain our commitment to creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment. Our dedicated faculty remains focused on providing quality instruction and fostering a culture of curiosity and growth.
We would like to thank the Cucinella PTO for another successful Holiday Gift Shoppe. The students had a blast shopping for their loved ones and getting into the spirit of giving. We want to thank all of the PTO volunteers who helped our students over the course of the week and made this another wonderful event. A special thank you to Kristi Daggett for coordinating this event!
On Thursday, our 5th grade students performed their holiday music concert. During the day, they performed for our students and staff, and at night, they performed for their families and friends. The students ran through a catalog of holiday songs that brightened the crowd's spirits. The evening was filled with joy, talent, and the true spirit of the holiday season.
Our students demonstrated their hard work, dedication, and passion for music, captivating the audience with their melodious performances. Their commitment to excellence and their enthusiasm for music shone brightly on stage, leaving us all cheering for more!
I want to express my deepest gratitude to our wonderful chorus teacher, Mrs. Tara Postigo whose tireless efforts, guidance, and inspiration have helped our students achieve such a high level of musical artistry. Your commitment to nurturing our students' talents is truly commendable, and your leadership has undoubtedly contributed to this resounding success. Additionally, thank you to Mrs. Cross for helping the students behind the scenes during our evening performance.
To our young performers, your talent and enthusiasm was truly impressive. Your diligence and teamwork created unforgettable moments that brought smiles to everyone's faces. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you!
Just a reminder, this is our last week will before the winter break. Monday through Thursday are regular days. On Friday students will have an early dismissal at 12:30PM. School will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
We appreciate your ongoing support, and stay tuned for more exciting events and updates from Cucinella! If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact me at cperruso@wtschools.org.

TREP$ After School Entrepreneur Program
Our school district will be offering a very exciting program to our 5th-8th grade students this year! Using the abbreviation “TREP$,” it teaches children the skills to become young enTREPreneurS. This program is a favorite of parents and students alike. Students will love TREP$ because in this program, they are given the opportunity to pursue their own interests through the engaging world of entrepreneurship. Parents will love TREP$ because it provides an authentic situation that rewards focus, determination, creativity, communication, and hard work. This wonderful opportunity is uniquely accessible to all students!
In the TREP$ Workshops, the students enjoy participating in hands-on activities to learn the business basics of product development, business finance, market research, advertising, sales, and more. TREP$ ends with an ultimate culminating activity: The TREP$ Marketplace, where the children come as vendors to sell their goods to real consumers for real money. Children will learn that with passion and the right skill set, they can be successful entrepreneurs. As adults, we recognize that these same skills will be valuable in virtually any path they should choose in the future.
We are introducing the students to the program through a discussion and a short video. You can also view the video at www.trepsed.com/kick-off. More detailed information can be found within the registration itself. If you have additional questions about the program, please contact the TREP$ Team Leader at djones@wtschools.org. We also encourage you to visit https://www.facebook.com/TREPSED to see photos of the program in action and go to www.TREPSed.com to read the testimonials from children, parents, and administrators. We are sure your child will have fun and learn a lot!

Cucinella Lost and Found
If your child is missing something - coats, sweatshirts, hats, water bottles, etc. - please remind them to check our ever-growing lost and found. It is currently overflowing with items. The lost and found is located inside the cafetorium, near the water filling stations. We are happy to help students if they are looking for something in particular. Please notify either your child's teacher or the main office secretaries if you need assistance.
Pick Up Patrol
PickUp Patrol has been in effect for the past year and we are very happy with the positive feedback we have been receiving from the community. PickUp Patrol is used not only for drop off and pick up procedures, but also for recording your child's absences.
Please click here to review how to use the program to record absences.
