Achieve 3000 Read to Succeed Contest
I have enrolled both Lynnhaven and Trantwood in the Read to Succeed Contest! All you have to do is have your students complete at least eight multiple-choice activities between Monday, November 2nd and Friday, December 4th. I know we are out of school a lot during this time, so we need to be creative. In order to be eligible to win, at least 75% of your class needs to do eight or more activities during the contest period. Achieve 3000 will keep track of the progress and notify you if and when your class has qualified. Yay!
To encourage your students to put forth their very best effort, Achieve 3000 is giving out extra points for high scores. Every time a student does an activity, your class earns a point. For every score of 75%, the class earns two points. And for every score of 88% or higher, the class earns three points! The winning class is the qualifying class with the most points on average, per student, in the school. Please note that only classes that have 5 or more students at the close of the contest are eligible to win a prize, a $30 gift card. Yes, you, the teacher, can win a $30 gift card!
Let's get them reading!

Hour of Code
The Hour of Code is coming! December 7-13 is Computer Science Education Week and also time for Hour of Code. So, what exactly is Hour of Code? It is a campaign to get millions of children world wide to try an hour of introductory coding. Currently there are over 64, 669 events, Lynnhaven and Trantwood being two of those. This is the perfect way to kick start coding this school year.
I'll be talking to you more about Hour of Code during November. In the meantime, for more information click here.
