PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
AHOY, PIRATES!
Welcome back to what promises to be an amazing week! This week kicks off School Bus Safety Week and Red Ribbon Week. Please help us stress to our students the importance of them being safe in a variety of ways whether riding the school bus or making good decisions by saying "NO!" to drugs and alcohol.
One thing that stands out to me is our children's ability to care for one another through difficult times. They, by and large, seek to understand each other. However, there is a segment who really struggle with the norms of being in a school setting. Just how do we address these students? How do we maintain a learning environment that enables ALL students to learn at high levels? What can we do to help students not just conform to our expectations but to thrive as a result of them? To address these questions, we must begin to conduct self-studies to learn how to work with these students to provide them with an education that not only promotes academic excellence but also provides structures in which they can flourish and be successful. Help is here! This month's Educational Leadership (EL) focuses on social-emotional learning. Below you will find two articles from EL that focus on working with students with social-emotional learning in mind. The infographic gives a quick overview of this month's edition. I hope you find them helpful. Yet, we must not let this be the only place we look for assistance. We have teachers who have found strategies that work - let's tap into them. We have a psychologist on staff; let's use his expertise. Each school has a counselor who has expertise in helping students learn to solve conflict; let's use their talents. We can no longer afford to say that we are not trained to work with students who have social-emotional needs; they are depending on us to help them learn with and through others. This part of our work will not be easy, but it will be worth it! With that, I submit the Log. #stayhungry #eXcellencemarksthespot #committedtoeXcellence cje

PCMS 7th Football Conference Champs!
Special note: It was very impressive to see the team receiving hand signals from the coach on the sideline. They would all look to the coach, receive the hand signals, look down at their wrist for the play, and then would run the play. Thanks for having high expectations for our youngest athletes.
