MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL OPHUS
Dear Fairview Families,
I hope you are all having a nice final week of February as we look forward to March next week. It was wonderful to feel some warmth and sunshine at various times throughout the week! Here at Fairview and in our remote classrooms, we just finalized our first week of the third trimester. Second trimester report cards are being sent home with students in their backpacks today for all hybrid learners. For remote learners, report cards were mailed today, so you should expect to see those come home early next week. If you have any questions about your child’s report card, please reach out to their teacher as we are happy to talk through any inquiries you may have. I am so proud of our students for continuing to work hard with all of their studies! Take some time to celebrate your child’s accomplishments as you reflect together on another trimester of good work as a Fairview student!
Also coming home with report cards are student’s winter MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) reports. This report will give you a snapshot of how your child is performing in both reading and math. For our second graders, this is the first time your child has taken this assessment, and it will serve as a baseline of their performance. For students in 3rd through 5th grade, this report will help you to see the growth your child has made over time, as all scores since your son or daughter started taking this assessment are included on the report. For more information about the MAP assessment, please see this link that Dr. Gorr shared earlier this week.
On Tuesday, our Fairview PTO Science Fair link will be live and active for students and families to view. If you signed up for the Science Fair, be sure to upload your video to Flipgrid using the link provided to you by the PTO by Monday, March 1st. We look forward to learning from our Fairview scientists starting next Tuesday! We will keep the link live for viewing between Tuesday and Spring Break. Next Friday, March 5th is our next half-day institute day. Like we did on February 12th, all students will learn remotely. Hybrid AM and PM students will join their teacher from 8:00-10:00 a.m. on Zoom for reading, writing and math instruction. Remote students will follow their typical AM schedule.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dan Ophus
Fairview Principal

DONATE TO DISTRICT 57 FAMILIES IN NEED
COVID-19 has presented many unique hardships and challenges for some of our family members, friends and neighbors. Some parents have asked if it’s possible to make a financial donation to help support District 57 families who are currently in need. The District has set up a system to facilitate this for anyone who is interested. We will distribute the collected funds to families, based on formal requests that are made. If you would like to donate, simply go to this link and follow these steps:
- Click on “Make a one-time payment.”
- Fill in your student’s name, school and grade.
- Click “COVID-19 Donation to District 57 Families.”
- Fill in your information and donation amount, then proceed to the payment section.
Thank you so much, in advance, for your kindness and generosity.
Those who are in need of support can fill out this online form. Names will only be seen by select district personnel who are distributing the funds.
Thank you,
Adam Parisi, Ed.S.
