1.) side a= 22 feet
2.) 55 degrees
3.) I threw the ball 60 feet in 3.23 seconds, the balls velocity is 18.5758 ft/ per second
4.) I ran 60 feet in 5.7 seconds, 60/5.7 runners velocity= 10.5263 ft/per sec
5.)60 ft/3.23 sec=5.7(10.5ft/sec) c= 5.7b
6.) sin 55/25 = sin(A)/22
18.02/25= 25 sin(A)/25
= .7208, inverse of angle A = 46 degrees
55degrees+ 46 degrees= 101 degrees
180-101= 79 degrees
<B = 79 degrees
7.) b^2= a^2+c^2-2(a)(c)cos(b)
b^2=22^2+25^2-2(22)(25) cos(79)
b^2=899.1101
b=29.98
b=30 feet
The law of cosines help us determine where the football pass should be aimed based on the quarterbacks and the receiver's location. We must use the law of cosines to solve for sides b and c, you find the distance ahead of the receiver that the quarterback must throw.
