Student Advisory Council
We are excited to announce our 2020-2021 Student Advisory Council!
Savanah Arbanas, Jose Arguijo, Katie Buckley, Lucy Cates, Emma Dailey, Angle Jimenez, Makayla Kent, Dewie Lewelling, Elizabeth Mulvihill, Loralee Pender, Fernanda Ramirez, Robert Rodriguez, and Brianna Ward
These students will be working with Mr. Hamilton to address issues and concerns at BRHS and make changes to improve our campus.
At our first meeting this past week, we created a social contract for the operation of our team. The students decided that our two main areas of focus this year will be on improving school unity and spirit and on ways to improve the campus systems and procedures that are related to COVID guidelines.
The students want to address school spirit by having student-led theme days each month and by creating a Spirit Team/Student Section for all sporting events.
We are excited to see what these leaders come up with and how they can lead to make a positive impact at BRHS!

Autumn is always a time of reflection for me. While 2020 has seen its fair share of ups and downs, we can find new ways to keep making progress. Trying out new things can actually boost our well-being. When we open up to new ideas, it helps us stay curious and engaged. It can also bring a sense of accomplishment and help to boost our self-confidence and resilience. There are so many ways to learn new things and this month we're encouraging everyone to find new and creative ways to overcome our frustrating situations, especially in a Covid world. What is autumn to you?
Make plans to join us for the annual Veteran's Day program on Wednesday, November 11 at 10:00 a.m. in the BRHS gym. (Can you insert your graphic you made here?)
For students who are in the middle of applying to colleges, please remember to request your transcript through our official Transcript Request form. For those students needing a Verification of Enrollment, we have a form for that too!
Both forms can be found under the parent section of the BRHS website at: https://www.brisd.net/site/Default.aspx?PageType=1&SiteID=8&ChannelID=157&DirectoryType=6.
Red Ribbon Week is October 26-30- See graphic for dress up days.
Dual Credit students: Collin College Spring Registration opens on October 27th. Students must have their TSI status in place in order to register for spring classes. BRHS is working to offer the TSI to dual credit students and offer the exam on campus. Dual credit students should watch their BRISD emails for testing updates and make sure they have completed the PreAssessment Activity that can be completed at: https://www.tsipreview.com/welcome/blueridgehs
Per state law, students cannot test without completing the PreAssessment Activity. Dual Credit payment registration deadline is December 2. Please get in touch with Ms. Garza if you have questions at egarza@collin.edu

CLASS OF 2022 - INFORMATION ABOUT AUTOMATIC ADMISSION INTO UT AUSTIN
Senate Bill 175, passed by the 81st Texas Legislature, allows The University of Texas at Austin to limit automatic admission to 75 percent of the university’s enrollment capacity designated for first-time resident undergraduate students. The University has determined that it will automatically admit all eligible summer/fall 2022 and spring 2023 freshman applicants who rank within the top six percent (6%) of their high school graduating classes, with remaining spaces to be filled through holistic review. This remains unchanged since the last school year. A letter from University President ad interim Jay Hartzell is attached to this correspondence. This information should be shared with all high school junior-level students and their parents. If you have questions regarding this policy, please contact Rachelle Hernandez, Senior Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and Student Success, at The University of Texas at Austin at (512) 471-4363. Letter can be downloaded below.

Message from the Nurse
Hello Tiger Parents and Guardians!
Please carefully consider having your student(s) get a flu shot this year.
Many convenient locations are available that offer this shot. Now is a great time to check this off your to-do list
Thank you
