Reading Workshop

With the second marking period behind us, we will be jumping right back into our guided reading groups focusing on strengthening the CAFE strategies for comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expanding vocabulary.
Writing Workshop
The students will continue to practice their handwriting using a single line. This is new and can take some time to get used to.
The students have learned about and tried many craft strategies to develop their personal narratives. In addition, they are also expected to continue using the writing conventions of capitalization and punctuation. Choosing one of the drafts from their Writer's Notebook, they will publish a narrative and encouraged to use the strategies and conventions practiced throughout this unit.

Lesson 5: Rounding Numbers to Estimate (3-day lesson)
- Use a number line to round numbers to the nearest ten
- Using rounded numbers to estimate sums and differences
