June 2021 Edition

Big picture

Dear PreK Families:

The 2020-2021 school year has been one for the record books! Despite the challenges, WE MADE IT!

We want to thank the teachers and staff for their dedication and commitment to our students. The teachers have had to adjust and learn new methods of teaching overnight and didn't hesitate to make the needed adjustments to engage our students in person or remotely.

We want to thank you, the families for your commitment to your children and our school district. Some families were virtual school parents while working from home themselves. Some families sent their children to school despite their fears and concerns. Some families would have liked to have remained home and homeschooled but due to being essential workers, that was not an option. To all of our dedicated families: Job well done!

Thank you all for a fabulous year. We look forward to enjoying the last days of 2020-2021 school year with you and can't wait to welcome you back for 2021-2022.

Summer Parent-Child Engagement Kits

Summertime is a time of sun and fun! Children need time to run and play and enjoy themselves outside and inside. But you can work in some learning, too. Reading together, playing games, and exploring can be part of your summer fun and summer learning.

Each PreK student will be provided a Summer Parent-Child Engagement kit to promote learning this summer. These activities will provide opportunities for your child to develop, grow, and learn during the summer.

Examples of activities in the kit:

Puppets - Pretending improves children's vocabulary and promotes creativity.

Colored Cubes - Encourages sorting and building while practicing and improving muscle control.

Books - Reading together builds vocabulary and develops listening skills.

Hopefully, this kit will provide you and your child with fun, learning activities for the summer that will continue to build the following skills: academic, communication, motor, and social- emotional.
