Herbicides and Pesticides: Toxicological and Ecological Impact
The Valpo Chain of Lakes Watershed Group will host a complimentary environmental presentation at the Porter County Administration Building, 155 Indiana Ave., Valparaiso, IN. on Monday, May 20th at 7 PM. Herbicide use in our Watershed -Making Sense of Herbicides and Pesticides by Ian S. Taschner, PhD., Indiana University NW, Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry
Assistant Professor Ian Taschner is a synthetic organic chemist from Indiana University Northwest, who specializes in compound design for early detection of oncological diseases. Dr. Taschner studied medicinal chemistry in Canada and received his B.A. in chemistry from The University of Akron and obtained his PhD from The University of New Hampshire. One current project includes extensive analysis on pesticides contained in local Indiana honey.
The Valparaiso Chain of Lakes Watershed Group provides public lectures and events in their ongoing efforts in protecting and maintaining the lakes and surrounding environs through education, conservation, pollution monitoring, research and invasive species control.

The lecture will be followed by a Q & A session next door at Greekās Pizza. The event is free and open to the public.
Prior to the lecture The Valpo Chain of Lakes Watershed Group, Inc will conduct a business meeting at 6 PM in order to discuss and finalize plans for our June 22 Naturepalooza Living with Lakes Seminars and to vote on amending the text of Articles II, V, VI, IX, and XI, of our Articles of Incorporation as recommended by Attorney Paul Kohlhoff.
