What is cyber bullying ?
Cyber bullying is when the bully uses technology (mobile phones, computers, tablets, etc) to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. It mostly occurs to young people, but it is becoming more of an issue these days.
How cyber bullying affects the victim ?
Cyber bullying can get really out of control to the point of suicide. It can affect the victim in serious ways, such as depression, anxiety, lowered self esteem, scared to go on the internet and use technology.
Why people cyber bully ?
People cyber bully maybe because they dont like the person or they have had some conflict before. Most people think that people bullying to make themselves feel better, like it's a reaction to being bullied themselves or because they are jealous of the person they are bullying. Teenages bully to see it as a way to become popular and hurting others makes them feel more powerful.
What could do if someone you know is getting cyber bullied
- You could talk to them about it and ask how they feel.
- Let a parent, teacher or counselor know whats going on.
- Tell them to block the bully from sending them messages and to stay offline for a while.
- You could even take legal action, only if needed.
How is cyber bullying different to other types of bullying ?
Cyber bullying is an addition of bullying that goes on at school but the person doing the bullying uses new technology such as websites, text messages, social networking sites, and emails to embarrass, harass, intimidate, or threaten other people.
