2023 March Edition
March is National Women’s History Month
The theme for the 2023 National Women’s History Month is “Embrace Equality”. The origins of Women’s History Month dates back to 1978 in Santa Rosa, California, when the Education Task Force of Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women planned a “Women’s History Week” celebration during the week of March 8 to correspond with International Women’s Day. Women have and are the heartbeat of every area of life. The Women and mothers, grandmothers, aunts, cousins, great grandmothers, foster mothers, engineers, doctors, teachers, pharmacist, police officers, television personalities, professional associates and all of the work responsibilities that we can ever think of and some more can all be performed by the women in our lives. So remember during the month of March make every effort to celebrate and show appreciation for the many women in your life who have made lots of sacrifices to improve your life because they deserve to be honored.
Educationally yours,
Mrs. Tarver-Smith,
Parent-Community Outreach Coordinator, PEA, ESP
Please remember that Daylight Savings Time Begins on Sunday, March 12, 2023 after midnight. So set your clocks forward on Saturday, March 11, 2023 before bedtime “if” your clocks or electronic devices do not automatically advance forward on their own.
MEET OUR FALCON STAFF – OUR FALCON P.R.I.D.E.
Meet our newest Security Assistant Mr. Ian Ellis who joins our Nicholas Orem Middle School Security Team this year. Mr. Ellis is no stranger to working in a school setting. He has actually worked in a variety of professions that support safety, prevention and property valuation. Mr. Ellis has worked in his profession for 15 years. He also coaches boys’ basketball and girls’ soccer. Mr. Ellis’s one positive word for this school year is “commitment” and he lives by the quote “slow motion is better that no motion”. One fun fact about Mr. Ellis is that he loves to travel and he has visited Australia!! When I asked Mr. Ellis what his wish for our students this year is he said…”That they would always strive to be productive and successful so that they can reach their goals and make all their dreams come true. Welcome Mr. Ellis! We all hope you have a great school year!
March 6-10 is National Breakfast Week! Thanks to our school Nutrition Professionals and the entire school community for helping students start each school day with the nutrition they need to learn, grow, and be healthy. Healthy futures start with breakfast.
