Junior Parent Meeting Follow Up
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Junior Parent Meeting last month! We covered a variety of topics that I hope will make the postsecondary planning process a little easier to navigate. During the meeting, I provided several handouts that I pulled from two main resources, the Iowa College Access Network's College & Career Planning Guide and the Iowa College Student Aid Commission's Your Guide to College. I have included links to both of those resources in their entirety below.
2015-2016 Course Schedules
Students have registered for next year's courses and scheduling will begin to take place in the next couple weeks. We will make every effort to build the schedule around senior course selections to ensure that they get the courses they need during their last year of high school. My goal is to have schedules completed by the time students leave for summer break.
Senior Year Plus
Senior students have the option of taking college credit courses through Iowa Western Community College as part of the Senior Year Plus program. Please view the link for detailed information.
Upcoming Dates
March 17 - Students will meet with me to select IWCC course dates and times. Students will also receive an application and contract/consent form. Course registration and all forms and fees will need to be submitted by March 27.
March 24 - Logan-Magnolia High School will be hosting a college fair. Student will need to sign up to participate by March 17. Registration needs to be completed by March 20.
April 22 (tentative) - We will take all interested juniors on two college visits. We will go to Iowa Western Community College in the morning and eat lunch on campus. We will then go to the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the afternoon. The sign-up deadline is March 20.
MVHS Junior Senior Planning Guide
Please check out this planning guide! It should help provide you with some direction on the things you can be doing now and will need to do during the next year to prepare for postsecondary options.
