It's Going to Be a Great Week at Hoover!

HONORING THOSE WHO SERVE

Hoover fourth graders have been busy learning about Veterans Day, patriotic songs, and what it means to be an active service member or veteran. We are privileged to have the opportunity to honor the special Veterans who are in our students lives at our annual Veterans Day program on Monday, November 11.

STUDENTS NEED TO WEAR COATS AND GLOVES EVERYDAY!

All students need to be prepared to dress for outdoor recess and walking on the track in the morning everyday. Students are not permitted to stay inside during recess unless the school receives documentation from a physician that they should stay inside.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED!

Do you love kids? Are you looking for a fun job with a flexible schedule? Be a substitute teacher! Go to https://www.cville.k12.in.us/Page/363 and check out the qualifications.

Notes from the Nurse

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of disability and death in the United States. More than 30 million people in America have diabetes and another 84 million are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes (courtesy of www.healthfinder.gov) You can lower your risk, if you make healthy changes: eating healthy, getting more physical activity, and losing weight. Use this month to raise awareness and encourage people to make healthy changes:

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator, work out regularly

  • Get regular check-ups: blood pressure and cholesterol checks. Ask your doctor about your diabetes risks.

  • Cut out sugary foods and refined carbs, follow a low carb diet

  • Quit smoking

Highlights from our after school program this week include:

Spanish Club students were working on singing the numbers from 0-100 to increase fluency and talking about recent family customs and celebrations.

Students from Honor Choir sound amazing. This week they began working on their next new song and I was impressed with how quickly they were learning their parts.
