A Letter from Mrs. McDonald
Dear Families,
You did it! We worked together and completed the first full week of remote learning! You all stayed focused on learning and supporting one another! We also heard feedback from our families and made some changes to our structure in some grade levels to better meet the needs of the families. I was able to jump in on several Zoom sessions this week and it was great to see our Hughes Hawks! I am proud of you all!
Thanks to all of the families that have completed the information about any changes that your family has made in regards to your Return to Learn plan for September 14th. Mrs. Terrell, the AP, and I are working diligently to finalize the in-person plan this week so that we can send it out to our families as you prepare to transition for Monday, September 14th.
On Friday, September 11th, the teachers will be teaching in the morning, but will be on campus in the afternoon finalizing their plans for teaching in-person on Monday, September 14th. The teachers will have the activities listed in SeeSaw for the students to work on during this afternoon session. Our students that currently receive the in-person services will have a full day of service on Friday, September 11th. The teachers that serve the students receiving these services will be in communication with the families.
Some families have had questions about remote learning for the rest of the year and what that may look like for your family. Teachers will continue to work with elementary students in the remote learning environment. The schedule will be similar to the current remote learning schedule. There will be synchronous and asynchronous instruction that will take place. SeeSaw will continue to be the main application for communication. Dr. Warren is hosting a Facebook Live on Monday, August 31st that will address questions about in-person and remote learning.
After watching Dr. Warren's presentation, if you have any questions about in-person learning or remote learning, please don't hesitate to e-mail me at jmcdonald@nisdtx.org. Thank you for your continued partnership, and remember, here at Hughes Elementary...We are Leaders. We are the Future. Gooo Hawks!

Hughes PTA
J. Lyndal Hughes is fortunate to have a strong PTA that supports our students and staff! We have had a wonderful PTA board over the last several years and this team continues to get stronger each year because each board shares their knowledge with the new board. We are a lucky campus to have such proactive thinking and a strong partnership with each PTA board. Please click the link to read a letter from Meghan Barbato, Hughes PTA 2020-2021 President.
