Card My Yard
PLCC will have Card My Yard set up on May 24th & May 25th in front of the ECC. Families are welcome to take their own last day of school photos during this time.
Medications
- Meds Pick Up: Nebraska regulations require all medication left at school at the end of the school year be discarded. This includes inhalers and Epinephrine Auto-Injectors. Unless your child has current permission to self-carry their medication, the school is not able to allow your child to bring the medication home themselves. If you need to make special arrangements to pick up medication, please call the school to make arrangements. Medications not picked up, will be disposed the last school day that students are in attendance.
Wishes Come True
We would like to thank the Student Council members and the Prairie Lane students for raising $1,105 for the Make-a-Wish foundation. Wow! The Coin Contest was a huge success!
Good-Byes Are Hard
We want to extend our best wishes and warm thanks to two of our staff members who will not be returning next school year.
Mrs. Hillary Haddix, ELL and Mr. Micek, 4th Grade. Both teachers will pursue new opportunities outside the district. Their love for teaching and dedication to students and families at Prairie Lane will be missed by all!
Hello To New Staff
Help us give a warm Prairie Lane welcome to these wonderful educators:
- Susan Sloup will fill our ELL position. Susan was with us some years ago as a Spanish teacher, and it is so nice to have her back!
- Rebecca Ross takes the new role of shared school counselor. She will be working with Rockbrook as well as Prairie Lane students and families.
- Carmen Suey is our new 4th Grade teacher, and we know she will be a valuable addition to our staff!

Summer Resources for Families
We are just a few weeks away from the start of summer break 2023! While this time of year brings excitement and anticipation, it can also lead to feelings of anxiousness and uncertainty for students and their families. The Child Mind Institute reports that kids, particularly those students with mental health issues, benefit from structure. The school year provides this structure and routine naturally, whereas the summer months tend to be more relaxed and flexible. While the break is often enjoyable, it can also lead to frustration, panic, and the always popular, “I’m bored.” Luckily, there are some simple ways to merge structure and routine with fun and spontaneity while also keeping students’ bodies and minds healthy and prepared for the upcoming school year. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Child Mind Institute outline several ways to make this happen including setting goals, giving students new responsibilities, and creating fun opportunities for learning. The Child Mind Institute article also includes suggestions for students with disabilities and/or mental and behavioral health challenges. A "Summer Bucket List" graphic is also attached.
